A nice little introduction to the immersive sim genre. I don't think hardly anyone here needs a history lesson, but there is probably a whole generation out there that does:

Hah, I just watched this when it popped up in my YT feed. I'd also add Quadrilateral Cowboy to the list of this year's immersive sims.

Remember back in 2016, when immsims were coming back?
And then they went away again?
Well guess what, they're coming back... AGAIN.

Just stumbled across this video and there's a lot more indie immsims in the making than I knew. Of course we got those upstarts at New Blood with their Gloomwoods and Fallen Aceses, but there's also a pile others. Then again the video also looks at some of the indie immsims of recent times and, well... Underworld Ascendant, Spirits of Xanadu, Wildfire, and Neon Struct? The most positive thing I can say about any of those is "it's ok". Making immsims is hard, yet lots of indie devs are trying their hand at it. That's kinda exciting, isn't it?

I just got my latest FIG update from IDGI on the Consortium sequel.
They have managed to port the original Consortium game to 1st party VR. and they have a voice recognition system that allows you to speak to NPCs naturally instead of choosing your dialogue from a menu. They shared a video but asked that it not be shared around publicly. Apparently they're porting the system to the Tower as well. I think that's pretty exciting news for Immersive Sim gaming.

There's a Skyrim VR mod that allows for the same: you choose your line by speaking it out loud. While it may sound cumbersome, I found it surprisingly immersive, even if you're voicing lines written by others, and not particularly well at that.
