The purpose of this article is to figure out how best I can do in my favourite game.I love saving stuff and beat games at miminum cost.
(It is OK if you don't like the way of my playing style)
(English is my second language and don't bother writing to tell me my grammer sucks)
OK read on------------------------------------------------------------
I recently beat ss2 at impossible level. it is the second time i went through the game (first on normal). in the end, i save up to 4000+ nanites and 500+ Cyber Modules ~~~which i donno where to spend ;)
here is some tips i find might be useful, hope you will enjoy it.
A, save ammo
1, use wrench to kill 100% of slow melee enemys (except rumbler) e.g hybrids(any kind),arachnids and monkeys(use corner) , 60% of weak ranged enemys (midwife,assassin...)
2 hack security before approaching Turret, hit them with your wrench to red and finish it with your shotgun in single shot.
3 kill only toxin eggs with your ranged weapon. others(worms and flys) just approach and run away.
3 upgrade your standard weapon to 6 asap, while still use shotgun in most cases.
4.use anti-piecing ammo on mechnic and anti-personnel on organic
B,save cyber modules
1.take either navy or marine path.
2. STR to 4(and str implant) or 5(no str implant), it is enough for space ,standard suit, power armor in later.
3.END to 3-4 or 5 if you are tired of reloading.
4.AGI to 3. use SwiftBoost Implant and speed boost when jumping over moving teeth.(3, 4 is ideal for jumping) and at the end section of 'Body Of The Many' where you encounter a large number of overlord and rumblers.
5 CYB to 3 and use tech implant when hacking.
6.standard weapon to 6 is a must. leave heavy,Exotic,energy to 0.
7 hack to 4,don't bother some crate that need hack of 6. nothing useful inside. save 3 ice break in the end(I found 4 in the game)
8 maintain to 4(for assault rifle)
9 repair=0
10. modify = 0. use French-Epstein(i found 5 in the game) on assualt rifle and shotgun if you like, upgrate them to level 2.
11 research =0.use LabAssistant Implant on Toxin-A and all the extra-damage organs. as soon as the research begin, u can take off LabAssistant to save power. the research is still going on.
12.forget psi stats and relevant entirely.
C save nanites.
1 recycle ANY useless stuff into nanites.
including extra ammo, extra implants, protable battery , medical kit ,toxin hypo ,any psi stuff and even wines or cigarettes.
2 always hack before pruchase from Replicators.
3 use surgical unit when your HP goes low.
4 use medical hypos rather than medical kit.
this is my end stats:
Hack 4
Standard 6
Maintain 4
STR 5
AGL 3
END 3
CYB 3
OS upgrade: sharpshooter and extra implant.

This kind of guides is very subjective. I play Impossible almost all the time, and my strategy is a lot different from yours. In fact, you'll probably get a different strategy from each player. For instance, I can tell you that even on Impossible I usually get Energy 6, and only get Std 6 right before going into the BOTM. I really don't like playing SS2 without using the EMP. I also like to use a few Psi abilities, and Invisibility is a must for the brain room. Cyber is also extremely useful to me in the earlier parts of the game. As for OS upgrades, the very first one I get in any difficulty setting is Lethal Weapon.

I know an even cheaper way.
Go into Marines, take the +2 strength, +2 standard, and whatever you want your third choice to be.
Don't use CM's.
Use the wrench for grunt work, pistol for bots and shotgun for biological foes.
Pat yourself on the back for having beat the game sans CM's or nanites.

With Standard 6 and all the ranged shot upgrades, why are you pussfooting aroun with a wrench still?
You are a walking death machine with an AR at that point. There is tons of ammo and what else are you going to spend nanites on?

I'd always wanted to know.. Why the HELL do you need an automatic mode for the AR?

Purely for gratuituous pillaging.

Ahem! Auto is the surefire way to kill everything within sight regardless of number or size. Also it's the quickest way to kill a trusty AR that has never failed you up until you actually
use the Auto.:wot:
Oh man, I like the option, it's great for when things get desperate and you decide to go psychotic on whichever 'nasty' decides to unfortunately(yes, I really mean that:cheeky:) stand in front of you with a stick in its hand staring down the barrell of one really ticked off AR on Auto with a Marine holding it with the most itchiest of trigger fingers in history!
Kind of gets me in the mood for a song::)
I got those Auto AR Blues,
I got those Auto AR Blues,
Mah gun's never failed 'fore,
Nuthin's stopped me passed 'vry door,
Then I kicked into a higher gear,
Thinkin' I'm drivin' 'em to the next level of fear,
I got those Auto AR Blues,
I got those Auto AR Blues,
I squeeze down an' open up mah fire,
Mah burnin' ammo just went even higher,
Mah gun's gone down an' broke,
I looked up and started to choke,
I got those Auto AR Blues,
I got those Auto AR Blues,
I got nuthin' but a wrench,
Bein' chased by one o' those weird-assed wench,
Even if I had a gun which I don't got,
I ain't got nuthin' but a single shot, (An' that ain't a lot!:cheeky: )
I got those Auto AR Blues,
I got those Auto AR Blues,
It ain't about what you got to use,
It's about what you set to choose,
An' that's why I gonna lose,
With those Auto AR Blues!
Thank you and goodnight!

You can spare more stuff by using the Wrench throughout the whole game, it ain't hard until you reach BotM. And some guy managed to beat the game without any cybernetic upgrades.
So you can basicly get through the game without spending any ammo or cyber modules, and without any hypos except med ones in emergencies when far away from med beds.
