@theeviltritone: Unfortunately there is no way to unlock the vault from the inside :( I hope you saved.
@Kaela: thanks for the kind words. It's cool that people are still playing it :) I'm not working on anything directly, but I have been involved in The Cabal, a 4 mission campaign for TDS which will blow everything else out of the water ...

The Bridge is´the best T3-mission!
The cabal? Hey, never heard of this project. Great news. Are there any screens available yet? When will it come out?
PS: I know no one will tell me a release date but I ask anyway.

Ah, thanks, now I remember. And I saw I even posted in this thread!
By the way, I mentioned your "Bridge" also in that post. Seems I'm reallly add:D icted to your mission!!

I was very impressed to see what is possible in the fan community when it comes to Fan Missions (this is the first one I have played). From an artistic standpoint, my only complaint is not having Garrett's voice. Beyond being obvious in its omission, I was reminded how much Garrett gave you clues on what to do next. Even if there was no voice but just text, I would have been happy.
My biggest complaint about the fan mission was the difficulty of knowing what to do. I had to quit the game multiple times and visit this thread to figure out what to do next. I suppose that is "dumbing it down for the masses", but I don't personally enjoy running around clueless and then quitting the game in frustration to look up the solution. Outside of that, I found it to be a pity that the zone was so huge outside, but with so few secret areas.
All in all, though, I was quite impressed with the fan mission.

Oh dear, I have to do a necromancy. :(
I've completed all the main objectives, except one. I am currently on the run from the CW and want to return Watt's possesions to his family. But how can I get into Taft Avenue ? The gate won't open (even if I use one of the two keys I have). Now what ?

i, i, i, i'm speechless str8g8!
i am only at the copy the key part, but i am already STUNNED!
MY GOD MAN! have u been honing your skills for like the last 40 yrs?
This thing is incredible! Design, story, art; ACTUAL CUTSCENES that ab-so-freakin-lutely have the full flavor of vintage Thief!
(i swear the locksmith one brought to mind the ones w Constatine & Garrett!)
This is easily one of the best if not the apex itself of FM creation. Granted i am a newbie to T3 FM's and it's been yrs since i played ANY fan mish, but as good as the 5 TDS FM's i have played to date have been, none, as Hammer (the one time Hip Hopper, not the sledge carrying Zealots!) would say, "can touch this"! :thumb:
well, back to the FUN!!! :D
(i just had to take a moment to post this after that great scene w the locksmith!!)
oh, also, it's cool that i can explore Shalebridge and not havta get freaked out by The Cradle!!! hah!!!!
Dr. Mugla Straitgate map maker & cartography! hahahaha!!
(could almost call that shameless self promo there! hee hee!! love it!)
((makes me wish i could B&E the place, there's GOTTA be sum "x marks the spot" maps in THERE!!!!))
Str8g8 - u DO love red herrings i see! graduated barrels & boxes SCREAMING "Over here, here's a way up", that lead to nothing after all! ha ha, jokez on us!
god i loved ripping off G&P! they were (WERE!) way way too rich! they had more sht than the entire blasted Audale Museum!
the vault code - marvelous, fantastically creative to have that association, and with the xtra #'s thrown in statue wise both for the code to be more changeable and to not make it so obvious!
(tho i think u may have seen "National Treasure" a few too many times! lol!)
day-am dude, gettin my taffin butt outta there (G&P) was a pain in my taffin butt! no way could any1 sneaksy past that last guy, had to wait til he was at far end away from the exit and then RUN FOR IT!!!
(feets don't fail me now dammit of all times don't fail me now!!!) hah!
well, that was FUN! even tho that dirty rat bustard got away with MY two foot golden woman!
damn glad they kept more than JUST that damned thing in that vault! i needed it for my loot count! got 97%!
------------------------------------------------------------
any chance you have a sequel in the works?
Garrett's Shadow on 5/8/2009 at 03:27

what now?
NVM: found the way! Str8g8 u :cheeky: sneaksy lil divil u!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
to the guy who wondered what an old fart sonds like, it's kinda like more of a sigh!
(no power left in the old sphincter ya know!)

Sorry for not answering questions sooner - it's good to know people are still playing and enjoying The Bridge :)
To Petike in particular, I hope you found the way and did not give up:
Taft Ave continues on the other side of the Square, where it is not blocked. It would be best for people PM me at ttlg in future as I don't check this thread much anymore.
To Garrett's Shadow: I'm gald you are enjoying it. I agree with you that there should have been more interiors to break into - that was in the original design, but time was against me I'm afraid. In fact the map makers was going to provide not only the map for the level, but a complete city map based on the work on Mapping the City thread in gen discussion, which was to be one of the special loot items.
As for a sequel - maybe with the Thief 4 Editor :thumb: I am currently involved in (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111381&highlight=cabal) The Cabal specifically in generating the cutscenes. Trust me when I say that they will make the ones in The Bridge look very amateurish ;)
Garrett's Shadow on 5/8/2009 at 15:22
okay, i will be honest and say that the cutscenes may not have exactly been super animation wise, but to have them in an FM at all, and be even as good as they were, that was something man!
and it was the vocalization that made it for me, the timbre of the old guys voice was spot on as was the vocal pacing! and when
the old as dirt locksmith said at the end "Garrett, Garrett?" and Garrett has already faded back into the shadows THAT was pure unadulterated THIEF!!!!!!
(Garrett never just hangs around when there's no reason to and he has work to do!!!)
and you say that the ones in Cabal will be way better!
oy guy, that's it, just turn the screws on the torture device jus a wee bit tighter whydoncha! LOL!!!
god, i need a new box of tissues, i'm gonna short out my keyboard with any more
DROOL!!!
