Everyone knows that the bow upgrade in the Alarus Extention is just a hoax, similar to the Basketball field in the training mission:tsktsk:. The real bow upgrade, called Constantine's Bow is in Constantine's Mansion (obviously:p), and is only obtainable in the Gold Edition. I'll show you how to get it:
1: Go to Constantine's bedroom and pick up that blue key that doesn't open any door, you'll need it for later.
2: Head to the Little Big World, but completely skip Tiny World, no one really cares about it. You may or may not have noticed it, but the giant living room in Little Big World is the room where Constantine and Garrett meet face-to-face, now that means, the room is not giant, its just Garrett that became tiny! Go to the giant door and climb it using rope arrows. In the door handle, there is a keyhole, but it is still in the normal size, so it may be very hard to find it. Use the key from Constantine's bedroom to open the door.

One of them has a very claustrophobic tunnel in the top of it, but you couldn't traverse it before because Garrett was to big to fit in. :idea:But now you can traverse it, since Garrett is so tiny. It is a lot longer than it seems, but with some patience you'll make it to the end.

I thought I had gone crazy when people kept talking about the alarus extension, as I had always gotten the bow upgrade from the garden. Thanks for clearing that up! :cheeky:

So if the Little Big World is normal size and Garrett just shrinks, does it mean that when Garrett visits the Big Little Town, that's actually a place in the countryside where a giant guard patrols an empty town and a giant thief sneaks by him?

Jesus. No one knows their Thief TDP version history. The last version of Thief The Dark Project was 1.33, in which they REMOVED the Alarus extension from the original release. One of the other major features of Patch 1.33 was the addition of EAX environmental audio among other level enhancements. That's why there's so much controversy about the Alarus extension being a hoax. The vast majority of players NEVER had access to it, and therefore think it never existed.
Most people these days have Thief GOLD anyhow. Which only built upon 1.33.

Taffin' right. When I played TDP when I was 10 years old, I had no idea about patches or updates or anything. I played the initial release for years. I remember weirdly maneuvering myself over the rubble and getting to the Alarus Extension. I thoroughly explored every inch of its pitch-black 5mx7mx1m space. I haven't tried it in 1.33 or Gold but it definitely does exist on the original version. It's just really small and pointless. Barely worth being called the Alarus "Extension". And as Raul pointed out in the OP, the bow upgrade isn't in there.

put of a video of entire process and show what the upgraded bow does
Omegacron on 16/12/2016 at 22:19
It actually exists? What does it do? The rumored one reduced bow "wobble" when aiming - is that the real one actually does?
And btw, finding this must have taken enormous patience & curiosity. Grats... and thank you!

He was probably just being sarcastic, or simply playing along.
