Okay; just came back from seeing this and imo it was worth every one of the 9 stars it got in the reviews. Matt Damon was, as usual, beyond excellent as Jason Bourne and the fast-paced twists and turns in this latest episode of the Bourne saga (as in the previous two) make me feel like going back and seeing it again to catch the things I might have missed. My only complaint was director Paul Greengrass' shaky-cam style of filming. One of the aspects of 'Identity' that so enthralled me was Bourne's fighting style, so I was once again disappointed that the exquisite precision choreography of each fight sequence was turned into nothing more than a blur in 'Ultimatum' as it was in 'Supremacy'. Other than that, the supporting cast was superb, the dialogue was just as great as in the first two movies (Joan Allen's quiet simmering was nearly palpable and I'm glad they didn't give her character a lot of overly-chatty, inane dialogue), and the stunts were outstanding (when they weren't all blurry - thanks again Mr. Greengrass, you asshat).
On a side note; I was rather concerned about Albert Finney's performance. There were a couple times I was afraid he'd have a stroke before he completed his lines; he seemed almost too old and frail to be acting. Even so, he managed to pull it off and present a believable character.

I thought it was more of the same, althogh to me that simply means that I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed the previous two. Yeah, the blurry camera work is pretty annoying. Hopefully film-makers will take a hint and stop using that technique, because all it does is make some viewers feel cheated.

I don't know, many people like that shaky cam style. Paul Greengrass' directing style in Supremacy and Ultimatum is getting a lot of praise from the reviewers, some calling him the best action director working today.

Just saw it at the local theatre on their 'Monster' screen - it's fantastic. I loved every minute of it; fast paced, lots of twists and turns, great vehicle chases and the fighting was awesome.
Excellent movie. Go see it at once if you haven't already. :D

Good God the hype is off the chart for this one. For what it's worth, I'm reviewing the Bourne movies again after seeing the insane amount of praise being heaped upon this flick - if I recall correctly, the first two Bourne movies were watchable but ultimately a little forgettable. Identity was the more spy-feeling movie but pretty cliched whereas Supremacy was more of a chase flick with the horrendous shakey-cam which kind of ruined it for me. I hear there's more shakeycam in this one but I suppose I can forgo it for some decent action sequences.
Now I just need to work on getting to the goddamn cinema.

The Bourne movies - are they the ones with Harrison Ford on the run from Tommy Lee Jones? Or the ones with Will Smith running from the government because he knows something he shouldn't? I get confused.

No, it's the one where Harrison tells people to get off his plane, Tommy Lee Jones doesn't care that you didn't kill your wife, Will Smith wishes people wouldnt shoot green shit at him, and Matt Damon is
MATT DAMON.

Aw c'mon. It's not that the Bourne movies are bad, they're just kind of meh. Good fight scenes and all, but the plot's a little bland - like most run of the mill action novels, and I can't remember the name of a single character other than Jason Bourne. The supporting cast is so forgettable that when I saw the second one, I couldn't remember if the love interest was the same woman as in the first film. I have a vague memory of her dying, but I honestly can't remember. For the record, I usually think Matt Damon is great, but in these films it's definitely a case of the actor rising above the material 'cuz the material is pretty generic IMO.
