Like many others, this campaign is what finally made me register for the forum, though admittedly I'm a latecomer to Thief as a whole. In this mission I found a readable with a tale about a trader and a demon that I distinctly recall having heard before but not its origins, and can find nothing searching online—does anyone know?

Just coming to the end of Trial of Iron and loving it; I'm one of those that plays on expert and takes *ages*.
Anyway, noticed a boarded-up door at the foot of the stairs to what some would call the 3rd floor, so on the SE corner of the 2nd floor map. Knocked off the boards, but door is unfrobbable. Is it just a tease? Or is there something else going on?

Yeah can't get in there I think.

Alright, I give in. Still looking to open the treasury. Found the Lever in the cardinal's bedroom, cunningly hidden - was hoping it would be behind the tapestry! Gotta say, love the readables in this level - they give you just enough! But now looking for the key. Checked All the rooms in the barracks - every single bloody one - for the treasurer's private quarters and the key therein. Nothing. Everything else is complete and I am dripping with loot. A little help?

According to fortuni's walkthroughs, the treasury key is in Brother Pererdin's bedroom on the desk. The lever you found in the Cardinal's bedroom does something else related to the treasury - it switches off a protective measure there.

Stats:
* Normal difficulty
* 1 hour and 53 minutes
* 2186 of 2652 total loot
* 0 hints needed
Elements I liked:
* A realistic depiction of a cathedral with its various side buildings.
* Excellent use of varied ambient music throughout.
* I completed the loot objective before I broke into the treasury, but the mission motivated me enough to keep playing and loot the treasury as well.
* The journals contain enough hints to find the keys and hidden levers you need to complete the objectives.
* The one Hammerite actually smelting hammers and putting them into boxes in the factory is cool.
* The conversation with the acolyte failing to memorize the words and using an improper word with "taffer" was amusing.
* The conversation in the power station about live wires was also amusing.
Could be improved:
* I have a feeling building a realistic cathedral came first, gameplay came second. The architecture is great, the gameplay was rather standard.
* The layout and the stock textures of a Hammerite cathedral is something I have seen probably about a hundred times before in Thief fan missions already.
* I felt a bit bored exploring that many samey basement rooms and sleeping quarters.
Other observations:
* I did the beginning of the mission in reverse order: Slipped in through the gate near the sewer access, prompting Hume's "Can't believe that worked" quip, later made my way through the sewers.
* The Hammerite temple with the Talisman of Air from T1, St. Yora, and St. Tennor are mentioned.
* The cataclysm in Old Quarter is mentioned.
