I loved the part of the level where a statue appears behind you above the gin seller's building on Dogleg Alley. I really appreciate little creepy moments like that.

Strafe jumping a la Quake seems to work in Thief.

Primarily in thief 1, where your speed amplifies for each jump, aka bunny hopping. They "fixed" that for Thief 2.

This is the best christmas gift ever! I have finished the first mission,no problems, though
yes I too tried to blackjack the horse, felt awful afterwards and restarted the whole thing
Well the thing I am curious about is,people said you can
push aside banners and tapestries but this is not possible for me,I used my sword. Is there something wrong with my game? Are they supposed to highlight and then I push them aside? They seem like regular slashable banners to me
This isn't really a spoiler as this thing is pointed out in the main release thread but you have to touch them (not activate them with the use key) Sometimes objects might be in the way though and it's easier to just slash them.

There's a locked door in the alley between the Old Factory and the pub. I have the following keys, none of which work:
Servant's key
Guard's key
Gatehouse key
Public Works key
Tenement key
I could do with a tip for opening this door.

Look up... at the pipe. There are some crates around the corner which will help.

My tuppence on crating - it's something I dislike so I tend to avoid it unless there is an obvious reason to do so. Mainly because it's slow and clunky. It didn't help that the
entrance was in total darkness, not even jumping could highlight the grate.
Finally completed it with 1390 loot and 6/8 pockets picked. I am wondering about the readable in the undertaker's which mentions a
mislaid barrel of jewellery - is this a red herring, or some of the loot I'm missing?

I had the exact same experience as Ramirez - I don't bother with crating, thus missed getting into that door (until I read about here and went back to check it out). But I didn't know you could mantle on the light! Mantling is SOOO much more versatile than it used to be!

the statue move when I entered the room and thought the broken statue was a trap. I was expecting an attack when it was waiting.
