any lockpicks in mission 1? or rope arrows?
Not that I could find. There's a note about lockpicks though if you didn't see that.
I need to go back and look around because there was a note about a arrow that I hadn't heard of before that is hidden. I don't know if it is one of the normal arrows with a funny name given by the character that wrote the note or if it is something new.

Finished in 2.5 hours with
1672/1687 loot. Missed 150 first time around so I went back and checked every single windowsill I could reach. Found a
purse and a ring this way.
The ring was extremely tough, not just to see but also to reach once I saw it. It's by a
vertical generator on Pulter Lane, pretty high up. I had to drop onto the outer ledge of said
generator to get it. Not sure if that was the intended way. The last item is probably a goblet, since it's valued at 15. But it can't be on a windowsill, cause I literally checked every single one. Also, I only got 7 out of 8 pickpockets, which is weird. There was a
guard's key on an unconscious guard on a balcony in Newmarket. Is he supposed to be knocked out? If not, that could be the last one.
A great first mission! Solid 8 out of 10 for me.
Pros:
- Vertical exploration galore, and to do that in a fun way with no rope arrow is impressive.
- Non-linear, though not as much so as I expected when I saw the map. It gives the illusion of excessive non-linearity, but you are very well guided in the intended direction.
- Lots of readables for those who care about the gossip and the organized crime in the city. Thank you for not piling up our inventory with useless scrolls.
- Good balance of stock textures/audio and new stuff. And the new ones didn't seem out of place.
- A very good map, which is important in a first mission.
- The horse!!!Cons:
- A few conversations were a bit hard to hear, and at least one triggered what seemed to be too far away (guards on the Newmarket side of the big gate). I couldn't even see them and missed a line or two.
- The new idle audio lines from guards seemed like conversations that I was supposed to hear, before I realized they were not. This isn't necessarily a con, but it happened a few too many times.
- Few underground areas, like basements or a canal. I think perhaps some of the excessive spires and rooftops that one can't get to perhaps could've been sacrificed for this.Quote Posted by Aekoric
There's a
water arrow next to it on a chair and inside the bell tower is some loot. So I don't think you are missing anything there's just not loot but a water arrow there
There is a
purse on a windowsill right by the ledge with the crate and water arrow too. Easy to miss it, I didn't see it first time through.
Oh and please user spoiler tags.
Edit: After ghosting this one, I will up my score from 8 to 8.5/10.

This indicates that your install uses custom water textures. To fix it, go to the cam_mod.ini file in your Thief 1 install folder and add a semicolon ( ; ) in front of any lines under the "Mod paths" heading. These are likely to include uber_mod_path and mod_path lines. If using AngelLoader, there is also a Disable Mods button in the Mods tab and can be set per FM. Alternately, find the MODS folder in your Thief 1 install and rename it.
Thanks it worked!

Was this the one referred to as a fizzle arrow in the note? If so, I also wondered what that was. I found a noisemaker arrow in the alley on Dogrun, so I assumed that was it. I also didn't find rope arrows or lockpicks.

A fizzle arrow is indeed a noisemaker.

Rope arrows and lockpicks appear in later missions.

Has anyone tried blackjacking the horse? :D

I noticed at least marbleman, Supremcee and Daniel Thron with voice lines in this mission. I know Daniel already has stock lines, but I think new ones were recorded for this campaign. Am I right?
marbleman on 3/12/2023 at 16:06
Daniel Thron doesn't voice anyone in this mission. The new lines for Guard1 were done by masterthief3. Guess he did a really good impression. :cheeky:

I thought I recognized at least one voice from the Thief podcast series but maybe I'm just hearing an accent that is similar.
