Where did you get this from?
Might have something to do with nothing else being commercially available when Thief was released?
You know CRT was THE display tech up until Y2k.

You are hereby granted the blessing to play The Black Parade on any monitor your heart desires.

Lol, calm down kid
You just called someone who's been registered here for 20 years "kid". That's how oblivious you are to everything beyond the event horizon of your own ass.

I read this thread twice before realizing that this person wasn't even the OP!!! That makes it even worse!

Anybody is free to modify the appearance of The Black Parade however they want, for their own enjoyment.
However, doing so with a mod that was never intended to overwrite the artistic vision of fan missions, only 'upgrade' the OMs, is a terrible idea and one we have taken steps to prevent. Given that The Black Parade uses a blend of stock, established custom FM resources, and entirely new assets, all existing graphics mods create a mismatched mess of styles when used to play it.
The issue is not changing the aesthetic due to personal preference. The issue is slapping a ready-made coat of paint, designed for something else entirely, onto a meticulously crafted project.

Yeah whatever, sounds like cope to avoid admitting you like having arbitrary control. HD Mod has done fan mission conversions before, the T2X remaster certainly wasn't "slapped together".
Great campaign, but it's sad to hear it may have been better if you hadn't devoted time to nonsense like "taking steps to avoid texture packs working properly".
Get a life.

Says the guy who decided to pick a fight over Thief textures. Like he said, you're free to do whatever you want. But are you proposing that they should've spent extra time and resources on an already-free project to ensure compatibility with a mod that goes against their artistic intent? I think you're the one who's coping here.

No, no one is saying that (except you, but I figured you'd pay more attention to the convo rather than doubling down).
I am saying that other community members should have the right to release an HD texture mod if they chose to do so.
They are saying that they disagree with that stance, but like most conversations of this sort, they never seem to be able to articulate a viable reason why they wish to control people who aren't hurting/effecting their lives in any way. Eventually I get frustrated and end the conversation because it's a fundamental difference of opinion that really doesn't have to make logical sense.
So please stop saying that anyone ever expected the author to go out of their way to support/implement high res textures, that would be entirely up to the texture mod creator.
The only things I've taken issue with is the needless restrictions on other people's potential hard work (HD Mod creator), and apparently they've also "taken steps to prevent compatibility of texture mods".

Well, he's saying it's essentially going to break the game if you install it, so why wouldn't they take steps to prevent it? They're proud of their work and they want people to experience it as it was intended. But there's nothing stopping you from putting all the upscaled textures in you want.
