There are several ways to deal with the dogs but if you have little or no equipment there are really only three choices: 1. Use the sword. You might have to keep running away and jumping in the water for safety. If you choose this route, I suggest placing a rope arrow first that will allow you to get back out of the water easily. 2. You can sneak by them with some patience. I ghosted this mission many times during testing and while the sanctuary was one of the more difficult spots to ghost, it was not really hard by ghosting standards. 3. You can just run and stay ahead of them, letting them chase you while you take care of business. That can be a bit nerve-wracking but it is definitely doable. And there is an upper ledge you can climb/jump to for safety (also worth exploring anyway).

Thanks, Tannar. I used a combination of all three. Ghosted in, shot an arrow into an unsuspecting victim. . .then when it charged me, I slashed it with the sword a couple times until it died. Wasn't too bad that way. Had a rope in the water too, so if I had to use it, I could drop in. (did once, when I pulled more than one) Took me a few tries that way - and one almost got away when it ran off, but I met it again on the way out and finished it off. (They were creepy dogs anyway. . .and I do like dogs! :D) Phew.
Funnily enough the big bad monster that was ripping soldiers up (I think it was the same one?) was a piece of cake. I jumped on the nearest pylon, and it stopped at the door and I shot it a few times until it fell over. Yes, yes. I do like 'getting' the badies from places they can't get me. I actually am really happy when games allow that. (Unlike GW2 which killed my favourite tactic early on. *sniffs*) I actually finished the mission with. . .*gasp* a whole 8 broadheads left. Amazing!
Interesting ending. Had me a bit confused when he's gasping and gagging. . .and the health metre wasn't going down. But it worked!
Now. . .onward! :cheeky: Er. . .tomorrow, maybe. Its late.

IIRC, you have oceans of space to lure them back too, and I am pretty sure they can follow you (i.e. no ledges or thresholds that stop them). So grab the attention of one of them, lure it far back so you are without earshot of the others and kill it one-on-one (circle strafing around and whacking them in the back works nicely). Save after each successful kill.
EDIT: Oh, you made it. Nice.

I have been playing this fabulous mission and loving every minute until I encountered the dreaded unfrobbable lever
However, many hours later after much tweaking of my Thief folder, I got it to work!!!!!!! :D
Thank you so much to TafferPatcher, without whom a grown man would have probably cried like a baby at being unable to finish this masterpiece! :p

Yup, it's scarier than
the dogs and the charaka!

I cannot get past them to get to the temple. I've tried everything. I am so frustrated. I can't even sneak past them because they seem to have super hyper hearing. It's the temple with the black frog treasure.

Yeah, they're tough. It is possible to sneak past them but it takes some patience and good timing. They will not see you if you are far enough away from them, even if you are out in plain sight. Also, some people have had some luck thinning their numbers by getting them to stand under the elevator and then lowering the elevator to crush them. Personally, I find that difficult to do. For me, it was easier to sneak past them. And you can also outrun them to get into the temple and once there it is possible to escape from them... at least for a while. Killing them is pretty difficult and you will usually die trying.

Thanks Tanner, I will try to outrun them again. I was able to crack 2 over the head when they were in human form, but after that I just couldn't get close enough. Here goes.

I apologize, but I'm having the same exact issue in the very beginning trying to pick up the lever (doesnt highlight/frob) and I've seen one of the solutions is to download a patch? tafferpatcher I believe? I'm nearly computer illiterate and just want to know if I find and download the latest version is there anything specific I will have to do with it?
So far the campaign has been enthralling and I really cant wait to truly get started with this mission.
