In the new conservative Bible Jesus tells the leper off for not having health insurance, the Good Samaritan gives the wounded Jew a lecture on the importance of being armed for self-defence, and the five thousand fed with loaves and fishes had to pay for their meal, else they become reliant on handouts.
Awesome post.

Do conservatives even read the Song of Soloman or do they pretend it doesn't exist?

Oh yeah, and they make a big deal about it (at least the Christ-o-fundies I knew). It's dirty fun for Christians, or "dirty" as "dirty" gets. The sex is kool so long as it is married non-gay sex, and, depending if you are Catholic or not, it can get pretty strict (i.e. none of the oral sex etc. etc. b/c it won't produce more Catholics)

I've taught entire sex/marriage courses based almost completely on the Song of Solomon. Oddly, most conservative christian types aren't as sexually repressed as you would think. The uber-conservative folks spin it as a "love song" foreshadowing the "marriage" of Christ with the Church, but even they usually acknowledge that it was intended as a type of Jewish kama-sutra.

It's been my perception that sexual repression is entirely an
export for those folks, as their leaders form raging hotbeds of adultery, homosexuality, divorcing older wives to marry young new ones, and so on. It's only wrong if you don't consider it wrong and ask for forgiveness when you're caught.

My experience can't argue with any of that.

The Liberals then fled from the scene to plot with Herod's people against Jesus, and plan how they might destroy him.
Fundamentalism: impossible to parody because the real thing inevitably ends up being more ridiculous.

Pretty much nobody likes the rabid fundamentalists. They view other churches as being institutions run up by satan, trying to weaken the faith. As a result, everyone else thats Christian hates them. They even seem hate themselves.
And of course, they can always cloak it in the rhetoric that they NEED to act that way to save souls. I
Course, if you are amused by some good old fashioned insanity, you can always read tracts by the ( very easily debunked) Jack Chick:

I lol-ed at that one, but its hardly the most insane of his strips.
