Ok I'm a more warrior oriented character, so is my best bet House Redoran or is there some great reason to join one of the other houses?
Forsythe on 3/12/2002 at 16:11
Hrm... well, as many will attest, Redoran are very stingy. They're very into the "honorable warrior" schtick though, whereas the other Houses encourage you to solve problems in different fashions (Hlaalu == kleptomaniac diplomat, Telvanni == anarchistic mage).

Yep, it's true that Redoran doesn't offer much in the way of quest rewards-in fact, sometimes you get nothing more than a pat on the back for your efforts-but then if you've never been a member of any of the other Houses, maybe you won't know what you're missing :)
Redoran seems to be the most respected House among the islanders, as they're really the only one which tries to stick to a moral code. The other two, as far as I can tell, are pretty much of a "do whatever you have to do to get whatever you want" mindset.
'Course, you can always replay the game later on-or even with two characters simultaneously-as a Telvanni or Hlaalu.

Them sons of bitches at the Hlaalu thing auto-invited me through a buggy quest system. Hell if I remember what I got out of it but I think I'd rather do the mage set instead of some politician crap /shrug
The best quest system was the imperials or the templar!
Forsythe on 4/12/2002 at 21:02
Yeah, the Duke will buggily promote you in Hlaalu if you ask him about the wrong thing :p
Btw, diplomats != politicians (well, not always I mean); rather, I meant that their preferred modus operandi is lying thru their teeth, blackmailing, theft, reputation assassination, and the odd real assassination. You know, what we all know the US government does behind our backs :p
JoJangles on 5/12/2002 at 23:17
Hey, I said politican, and I meant politician.
That's what Hlaalu is, politics, business, bullshit etc...
Politicians! The blood of a politician on my blade is like ice on ... finish my sentance one of you peons.

I personally like Hlaalu, im a fighter, im not a silly mage, and I dont like following strict codes to get what I need done for the house. I like Hlaalu so much your looking at its Grandmaster :cheeky:. The only thing wrong with Hlaalu is Cassius Curio, hes a sex freak or something, he had my female character strip just to be her sponsor in the place. In my male quest, he wanted to kiss him to get the nomination to Horator, I gladly paid the alternate 500 septims..

In other words, Hlaalu is perfect for the sort of person who can handle a blade as well as handle themself without one, who can butter someone up so much they'd fit in best in a frying pan, who has a good dose of self-preservation and who is unashamed about their body and their sexuality, as any good spy or diplomat may well need to be.
