Not played many 2015 releases this year, due to a HUGE game backlog that I'm never going to get through. But I try.
But of those ones that I have:
1. Metal Gear Solid 5
2. Satelite Reign
3. Shadowrun Hong Kong

MGS is definitely up there, as is Bloodborne. Personally I'd add Assassin's Creed Syndicate - which I'm happy to call a considerably worse game than either of those two, but damn it if I'm not enjoying my time in Victorian London tremendously! It's definitely the best Historical Tourism Simulator of 2015, as far as I'm concerned.

As usual there were a pile of probably good games this year that I won't get to until next year. Among these, I'd say the most likely candidates for GotY are Pillars Of Eternity, SR Hong Kong, Neon Struct, SOMA, and The Magic Circle. Of what I've actually played, the only games I rated highly were Fallout 4, DiRT Rally, and Tales From The Borderlands (technically from 2014, but most of the episodes came out this year). Project CARS was largely garbage, and Arkham Knight only recently became playable. Haven't picked up Mad Max yet. Witcher 3 would have to actually give me head in order to get my attention. So good job, Fallout 4.

It seems Sunless Sea is the only game coming out this year that I played. I liked it, but I didn't get sucked into it like FTL, and only played it for short bursts. I think if I stuck with it, it'd mean more to me.
At some point I'll get Elite Dangerous, GTA V, and Fallot 4, and I'll give them credit for having the best let's plays I've watched this year. Oh, and Space Engineer.
I was thinking to actually update my best game in history with GTA V -- the game you'd show alien anthropologists to see what we're capable of, followed still by Skyrim for fantasy (until the next ES game comes out I imagine), and scifi doesn't have the ideal yet, but Elite Dangerous gets the place for now until further notice.

By the way, henke, cool video! (I always get a bit startled when I see an avatar of mine on the screen; it feels distinctly different from seeing an NPC. It's me, yet it's not.)

The only games I played this year, that were released this year are Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin and The Witcher 3. I loved both. The majority of my gaming time this year went into DS2 Scholar, actually. The Talos Principle: Road to Gehenna DLC was great too, and definitely deserves a mention.
Of the games I didn't play, I was mostly interested in Fallout 4 (on account of liking 3 and NV), so I plan to get that sometime.

I didn't play a whole lot as my laptop can't run most of the new blockbusters + no spare 60 GBs lying around either. I wasn't even really interested in those games either, though. Next year holds far nicer blockbuster titles (hopefully actual games too).
The most modern looking game I played from this year was Teh Talos Principle. It was pretty good, I liked the atmosphere and puzzling. I wish I played it through to see what they done with it. The other two games from this year (at least to me) were Factorio and Exanima. Also Ziggurat, but it's technically from last year (at least the early access). I liked all these 4 games, and if I were to rank my fun with each, as well as time played (or LPs watched of), it'd be:
1. Ziggurat
2. Factorio
3. The Talos Principal
4. Exanima
Exanima has a cool concept and if the devs weren't lying, then I find it real impressive that they coded all of it themselves. The game itself was kind of frustrating and it was funny to watch henke struggle with it as well.
The Prince of Talos was cool but after I quit it after 2 hours or so I never got an urge to come back to it. I guess I didn't feel captivated by anything particularily. I have this problem with a lot of games, including ones like Mark of the Ninja, Skyrim and even DXHR (probably the main reason I finished the original DX was due to a promise to someone that I would) so I don't blame the game for this.
Factorio was similar to Don't Starve for me, except I ended up watching an LP of it after only playing the demo of it and never really play it myself. It was so engaging to dive into the world of automation. I really like the idea of starting with mother nature and gradually building up a sophisticated automated system of resource collection. Only after that there didn't seem to be much to do. Defending against some random guys can be nice but again not that captivating.
Aaand Ziggurat (kinda last-yearish but whatever). Probably mentioned this before here somewhere. Now this I've play A LOT for a non-multiplayer game. It's simple and has a nice Hexeny aesthetic. The gameplay is and it's different combinations every time (from different characters and difficulty settings to different weapons every time, different curses/blessings and other such nonsense as well as different enemy variations in each room) is what kept me coming back for so long I even got all characters and cards at some point, t'was pretty great.
Edit: Shiet, I forgot about Pillars of Eternity completely. That game was so hype for me that when I first played it I stayed up all night playing it cause I was too pumped up to even think about sleeping. Of games from this year it's definitely No. 1 for me, dunno if it beats Ziggurat.

Glad to see someone else appreciated Exanima! :D
Bloodborne may have been the better game overall, but despite it's alterations to the formula it still largely felt disappointingly like a rethread of Dark Souls. Exanima, on the other hand, while being completely it's own thing brought back the feeling of my first time through Dark Souls, a long way from the nearest safe spot and hiding behind a shield as I inched forward around the next corner. The similarities don't stop at the difficulty either, the sense of weight to the movement and combat driven by physics is amped up to new extremes here. The storytelling as well is similarly minimalist and presented only through the environments and the writings you find.

I love the idea of Exanima, the lighting, the dungeon(y) atmosphere. It can become a better game, a brilliant, despite the third person drunk penumbra-isch fighting style.

(
http://i.imgur.com/qx4YeOL.jpg) Bloodborne for me. I've been having so much fun mastering all its intricacies. Souls games by and large have been the most fun I've had in the past few years. I'm looking forward to Dark Souls 3 and hear it is to be some kind of closure for the series. I hope they'll take things into new territory and expand their unique style of games.
