UGH
The worst part is that the English are saying "OH IT WASN'T OUR BATSMEN, THE AUSSIES BOWLED REALLY WELL"
GREAT ATTITUDE YOU FUCKING LOSERS
someone tell me when this series gets worthwhile again

Not so much the football. Maybe badminton.
Ok, the side are likely to have been emotionally crushed beyond all repair by that defeat, but on the bright side they broke all kinds of records in the match! THE SPIRIT OF ROY CASTLE LIVES ON.
Anyway, we can still do this. If not, the returning feeling of cricketing disappointment should soothe the English heart, like a familiar, comforting set of lunchtime sandwiches.

Or not. The only good thing about the last two results is that they reaffirm England's achievement in winning the Ashes last time round. No one can say 'they only won because Warne and McGrath are old and past it' now that they're crushing England again over a year down the line.
Wtf? People said 'they only won because McGrath trod on a cricket ball', not because he's old and past it. As for Warney last series, did you watch any of it? He was immense in every respect.
None of this is surprising, it was always gonna be much harder to perform here for you guys. Pieterson and Collingwood look good, just get Monty in and have a go.
Its a shame about Jones and Vaughan injured, but we had our problems with injuries last time. Would have been nice to beat your best team though.

There's already a fair amount of blame flying around - mostly directed at Fletcher for picking a side more suited to get a draw, rather than going for a win. Also at Giles for being no danger to anyone whatsoever, Flintoff's dubious field placing when we had to push for wickets at the end, and so on.
Quite a lot of it is reasonable in various ways and should definitely be taken on board, but the simple fact is that, save for Collingwood (who is a star) and Strauss (who got a poor decision, but shit happens), EVERY ONE OF OUR RECOGNISED BATSMEN THREW THEIR WICKET AWAY.
You can't legislate for that through different selections. It's just self-destruction. Once Australia sensed it, they quite brilliantly went in for the kill; and no-one has been better at that in the last decade than them. If anything, it was they who made the most grievous selection error by going for only four bowlers (one of whom was barely fit) on that pitch. And yet ...
The difference is neatly summarised by this - everyone listening in England knew that Australia needing 168 from 36 overs was a doddle. If it had been England needing 168 from 36, it would have seemed seriously dicey. I'm not really sure how that mentality can be turned around ... even when we won in 2005, there were some serious wobbles which just shouldn't have happened. It was better though, we looked like we were getting over it.
Guess not, eh!
Still, I am utterly convinced we can win the next one against all the odds and breathe life into this series. YOU'VE GOTTA BELIIIEEEEEEEEVVVEEEEEEE

You definitely lack a killer instinct. Really with McGrath injured last series and Dizzy way off his best your bowling was quite a bit better than ours, and yet you only just won a series your bowlers dominated (again, apart from Warney).
Still, this wasn't a bad test for you apart from the last day. If Giles had held onto the Ponting chance it could've been so different.

I'm well aware of how good Warne was. Plenty of people wrongly used his relative old age (as well as that of others) to explain England's victory though.

When Ponting was dropped on 35, I knew then that it was the difference between victory and defeat.
Still, at leasty we might see Monty get a chance now.
