For the record, the aussies do take sport a bit seriously for mine, and i say that as someone with dual aus/uk citizenship.
Tangent: Just on nationalities and sport, has anyone seen the 'legends of football:maradona' dvd, its brilliant when he talks about beating england almost singlehandedly in 86 and the satisfaction it gave them after the falklands.
(Yes, i know he cheated, and he talks about that too; he used to handball regularly and some of the times he did it were brilliantly disguised as headers and whatnot)
>Remember that we're a bit light ourselves on this tour - Vaughan, Trescothick and Jones are all missing, with Flintoff looking pretty unfit.
Oh, i agree completely, and it's been a shame they have missed this series (although old Tresco missing might not've been such a bad thing for you in his condition). But overall these things tend to even out given that staying fit and strength in depth is all part of professional sport.
And Goblin, what are you on about McGrath being a patchy asset...?? I was talking about when he injured himself or was clearly unfit..Gnnngnn

The English need not feel aggrieved because the Aussies can beat them at hitting a ball wth a stick, or the Brazilians thrash them at kicking a ball around a field. Let's not forget that playing ball games is
all those countries are good at, while England has been one of, if not
the most, influential country in history, in a plethora of different areas, not only in their own right, but also in seeding many other countries.
We should have just let our prostitutes be murdered instead of saving them and sending them to Australia, then we wouldn't be in this mess!
To be honest, even though England have played some painful cricket at times I've still really enjoyed this series. There's something fantastic about the Ashes anyway, especially when it's in Aus and you have to stay up to silly hours to watch anything, and I've seen far far less entertaining series be played out. There have been stand-out moments on every day of every test so far and in general it's all been cracking drama yet again.

I just put the radio on and there must be some kind of error because the nice man said Australia are 84-5
Surely he means England?

It always turns shit after lunch! What are you putting in our sandwiches?
Are we the only side in cricket who can briefly make Hussey look like a chump and make Andrew "hi, my test average is about 3 runs" Symonds look like a world beater IN THE SAME INNINGS?
England you will always have my <3

The whole 'Symonds isn't cut out for test match cricket' thing is well overstated. He's a bit unpredictable but he's got amazing natural talent.
But yeah, this match has reverted to the formula so far this summer: aus get off to a good start, england fightback, aus regroup, eng fold.

I think for the fifth test we should reverse our batting order for a laugh.
Monty and Harmison opening for victory!

It would probably beat England's best opening stand this series.

Pieterson just clean bowled by Clark, 3/49.
4-0 by the end of the day looking likely.
