Now you're getting somewhere.
I've decided on a theif/assassin.
What will my primary attributes/skills be? What will my sign be? What will my race be?

Race-well, you should probably avoid Nords, since you're trying to be unlike Tuco :) Besides, they're too big and unsneaky somehow. I think the Khajiit, Bosmer and Dunmer have a particular potential for sneakiness that would suit a thief/assassin type character. As far as the races' skill bonuses are concerned, Khajiit and Bosmer are probably the best suited to a life in the shadows. This may depend on whether you can bear having one of those horrible, ugly, ferrety little male Bosmer faces on your character, although you could always use a plugin....click (
http://home.wnm.net/~bgriff/MW_WelfM.html) here for some really cool downloadable male Bosmer heads.
Birthsign-Shadow, Thief and Tower suggest themselves. I've used the Tower myself, though, and once you develop a decent Security skill it's pretty useless. The Thief's increased dodging ability would also seem to be superfluous for characters with good dodging skills, which I'm sure you would have. I'd go for the Shadow. Being able to turn invisible in times of need will surely come in handy, plus it just sounds really cool for a thief/assassin character to be "born under the sign of the Shadow" :D
Skills-traditional stealth and illusion based skills would serve you well. For your primary skills, maybe something like Short Blade, Illusion, Security, Sneak and Light Armor. Other useful skills would be Alteration, Marksmanship, Mercantile, Acrobatics and Speechcraft. Marksman would be great for killing unseen from a distance, perhaps with poison arrows or darts, while Short Blade would be better if you prefer shoving a nice sharp tanto between someone's ribs :sly: I would think Security is an absolute must, ditto Illusion for all the times you need to go unseen, see in the dark etc.

Geez Tuco, can't you think up a character on your own?
SubJeff on 15/4/2003 at 11:01
A thief/assasin??!! No!! You're just copying me now, ever since I meantioned my new character.
So you're well qualified to be a thief I suppose.

The opposite of that heavy-armor, axe/claymore type Tuco seesm to be an Argonian assassin/mage..
Light armour, lots of magic, only one-handed weapons..
I just started anew with a character almost opposite to my Nord ('Merkyll'), who had heavy armour, Daedric Battle Axe, not much magic.. Mainly a fighter, but I like to make my characters very fiting in their roles in RPGs, so he's a very good guy.. :)
Anyway, I know play a Khajiit ("Anar'Ji") with light armour, long blade, sneak, security, acrobatics etc. -centered skills; still not much magic, but good Restoration. He's still going to be a very virtuous character (as I feel the Nerevarine should be), but in a different kind of way. :)

weren't you a monk?
SubJeff on 15/4/2003 at 21:29
I have 2 characters. The monk who I'm dropping, and the assassin, who I'm keeping.
Why? Monks are poorly catered for in the game. Unarmoured is cool but unarmed is not.
Well it is but you have no weapons that cast on strike. Guantlets would be nice but there is no providion for it. If there were I'd go for it.
There are ggod provisions or an assassin though -
Major skills-
1.sneak, 2.shortblade (the combo allows for some critical damage)
3.marksman (for single kill crossbow shots)
4.light armour (just in case!)
5.destruction (to soup-up the weapons and allow for paralysis)
Minor skills -
1.security (fer teavin')
2.speecraft (for buttering them up)
3.illusion (to hide)
and any others you like.
The Major skills I've chosen are suitable for an assassin and would all be used. I might even ditch Illusion and rely on sneak.

what major attributes do your assassin have?
SubJeff on 16/4/2003 at 18:24
I just told you!
The monk has unarmed, unarmoured, blunt etc. Test it, create a monk.
Tuco on 16/4/2003 at 18:25
And the monk sucks!
Not like Tuco, Tuco is so unsuck that he... uhh... blows! I mean...
whatever, I'm cool.
