Ok, after veiwing some of the questions on this forum, i've decided that, after recently finishing my fourth run on veteran, i'd enlighten some gamers.
Artifacts
Most of what has been posted is correct, like the whereabouts of most rare artifacts. However what hasnt been mentioned is the fact that the game randomizes the locality of artifacts - the first three rounds I played, I never found any electro artifacts under agroprom. The fourth run - three moonlights, three flash and a sparkle, all in the corridor with the electro anomolies. Also, I dont ever seem to get hurt too badly by electro, even without protection...
Koloblok - found it once, lying in the open in red forest, though didnt find it in my fourth run
Pellicle - in the under ground 'car park' in wild territory, cant miss it. Alternativlely, do some jobs for scientists
Flash - abundant in wild territory, over by the train tracks and under agroprom as mentioned previously. dependant on the games randomization
Night star - one of the guys at the 100rads bar will reward one or alternatively, cross your fingers when searching the monolith building in pripyat
Urchin - erm...not entirely sure where it frequents - found a few in yantar, in the 'base' around the entrance to the lab. Never really been short of one so never bothered to remember where I got it from. Think barkeep rewards one...
Battery A/B - garbage is surprisingly good, nearthe entrance to dark valley
Crystal - same with urchin lol. I think it comes as a reward, I always end up with two at the end of the game
Mama's beads - got one as a reward, maybe sakharov...? the other is immedietly behind the log at the campfire on the first visit to dark valley.
Soul - why is this listed? I have around five souls in my stash! same as urchin, I dont remember where I get them but they're not thet rare.
*also slug, slime and mica seem to greatly increase bleeding when I play, anyone else had this problem?
Spring - have never found its locality, have never wanted to try. Theres always one (I think) in the tower in the village with the blood suckers near the army warehouses.
As for the qualities of such artifacts - I bought the guide for stalker and was thoroughly unamused to find it only listed five suits and missed out all the rare artifacts. Maybe because artifacts like koloblok dont even show up on the PDA...? anyway, I can tell you that koloblok has +30 rupture and nightstar has +5 radiation and +5 bulletproop capacity (as opposed to +30 bulletproof capacity, listed in the official guide!) As far as suits go, until you aquire the upgraded exo skeleton in pripyat (meet guide, find the room with the stash, then search the cross near the monument in pripyat), the best suit, statisticaly, is the skinny lookin' green version of the orange suit the scientists at wild territory wear. As uncool as it looks, ive compared it against every other suit, even the upraded ones like Ghosts and the healing beril and the healing merc's. You can get it by doing missions in yantar.
On a last note - by doing barkeeps missions and being let in to the duty base, doesnt make you a member, even if every dutyer is 'green'. Also you dont need to join freedom to get to the arsenal, just knife the guard! Besides, the arsenal is all of an M203 launcher...
Anything else? Phew, twas good to get that lot off my chest! Hope my long hours of chain smoking, sitting in the dark with sore eyes, saturating myself with energy drinks, playing the greatest ever game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. can help you. I'm off for my fifth run - I'm getting behind that guy in 100rads bar, like it or not!

anyway, I can tell you that koloblok has +30 rupture
No, it doesn't. Kolobok gives you +5% Rupture. And it seems that frequently one can find one or two of them in a stash near the antennae in the Red Forest area.
And I don't mean to be unpolite or anything, but it doesn't seem that you've actually read the questions in these forums, or at least the complete threads, since your post isn't exactly 'enlightening' us much more than we already were, given that I don't see any new pertinent information in your post that hadn't already been given by other players in this forum - in fact, your informations regarding some of the artifacts are even more incomplete than what was already said regarding them in other posts ;)
P.S.- Still, congratulations on finishing the game on Veteran difficulty... it's an impressive feat!

I see, sorry about that. Well I guess my post can be added to the various other piles of advice.
However, I can tell you with the upmost of certainty that koloblok most defenitely has +30 rupture with no opposing drawbacks - I have various saved games with one and have had no mods or patches installed etc. This confuses me.
Can anyone help with unlocking the door in the red forest? I cant find anything about it here (though I have already proven my investigational skills are not up to date...) Its the one at the end of the loooooong fence seperating the forest with the road, just as you go up the hill to the scorcher.

I came for answers, and ended with only more questions. :(

I got in that door. I didn't find the code anywhere in game, but someone posted it here (in the secrets thread).
It's just a small room with 3 medkits : (
Koloblok only has +5% rupture in patch 1.0001, which is what I believe many of us are playing on. I picked it up a couple of days again in a hard-to-access Yantar stash.
If one is observant, you notice the two primary battle damage modifiers (bulletproofcap & rupture) gain the lowest bonuses from artifacts ... (Mama's Beads is the bulletproofcap counterpart to Koloblok).

Yes, probably the difference in the Kolobok artifact might be explained by the patch. I can say for sure that it gives +5% in Rupture protection, with no drawbacks.
As for the door, I can try loading a savegame from my last run tonight and check out the code. If I remember well, you get that information from the PDA of a Monolith (unless I'm confusing it for another door).

HTKblazer, you definitely should install the patch. It improves prices/artifact benefits greatly.
I wonder is it possible to get brainwasher proof thing and enter X-16 without doing Agroprom and X-18 first? Is it possible to finish X-18 without doing Agroprom?
I'm now in the Yantar area and I'm impressed, very moody atmosphere, that enigmatic emitter adds to it too. But man, I HATE those Snorks, almost impossible to kill if shot not in the head.

I'm fairly sure you need to get the documents to get into the bar, or at least for him to give you the key to the dark valley lab. I'm also pretty certain that the scientists won't give you the quest to get the psi protection until barkeep has told you to go to yantar.
Rolander on 10/5/2007 at 12:06
Seconded, on my last game, I went to Yantar before X18, and had no dialogue option to get the protective prototype required to get into X16.
