1 second is just ridiculous-- Rumblers respawn so fast there's basically no point even killing them.
That's exactly what happens, in the original we just run around with them chasing us and don't even bother wasting time killing them.

Expert bias is a hell of a drug.
So true lil' bro.

How about this: Rumbler respawn rate starts at vanilla level, but is slowed down a little bit more for every psi reaver brain you kill. Like they're all working together to summon them

Might do it a bit more challenging, at least for new players. In my case, I probably wouldn't notice much of a difference on a normal playthrough, since my usual strategy in that fight is to go straight for the psi reaver brains as soon as I enter the room, and only after I kill all five do I pay attention to anything else.
One thing that I always think about is all those reavers and rumblers that are in the way between the big pool and the brain room. Since I usually use invisibility to get to the brain room, I just pass them by and they are all left behind. But then all hell breaks loose in the brain room, and they just stand there, not bothering to go into the room. Since they are all psychically connected, one would think that they are aware of what's going on so close to them and could join the fight.

For now I've just made it difficulty-dependent:
- Easy: 6 seconds
- Normal: 4 seconds
- Hard: 2 seconds
- Impossible/Multiplayer: 1 second
Of course, since ecologies run their population checks on a fixed schedule instead of from when an AI is killed, all those times should really be "from 0 to X seconds"

Has anyone figured out how to get the nanites and bullets hanging over a pool, right before the teeth? For some reason, Psi Pull doesn't work on them. That hasn't changed in the remake. In the original, I would just shoot them down, then grab them in the pool, but that is no longer possible because the pool will pull them down (and you, if you enter it, eventually killing you).
For the nanites I had to place myself under whatever they're hanging on to be able to pull them (using Psi pull or even shooting from anywhere else did nothing), for the bullets they were already in the corner of the pool for me somehow and I had to carefully grab them without getting sucked and dying.
