So if I bought the SS1 Remake ahead of release through Fanatical, and then redeemed the key via Steam, does that qualify for a free version of the SS2 Remaster? Might have to do some research that one.

The questionable of a cheap game being free for some people is bothering me a lot.
It costs just a few dollars. Don't you people have a job? Why all that hate and flame around it not being free for everyone? What the hell is wrong with all of them?

FWIW, I did not like the Rebirth models/skins either. I like the remaster. I hope the change of engine doesn't affect the gameplay.

Randomly check this forum again and there is some news. Nice. I like the models and everything looks "clean" I guess. I am wondering, though, why they left the body of the level with its muscle/organs so edgy. I get that they want to stay true to the original but maybe a little bit more organic shapes? Anyhow, I am looking forward to it.

There's two brief clips from BotM in the reveal video, one in the beginning and another in the middle. The level geometry is still a little blocky but the stuff within it looks smoother and more detailed. I've never really liked the second half of the BotM, from the giant teeth to the brain. But it's a remaster not a remake, so it is what it is.

Today is release day, so I opened the Steam page to see if it's available yet, and it was already in my library. It's a nice perk for those of us who paid full price for the System Shock Remake. I'm curious to see if the SS2 Remaster offers any improvement over the community mods.

Playing it now. Already a bit annoyed because they removed the keys to turn left/right and now only allow sidestep. I was used to these keys, because they allowed me to move around while still having the inventory open and doing stuff. Old habits die hard.

I see that some of the old tricks have been fixed (I can't smuggle stuff out of training) but others aren't. Blocking the first bulk door with the wrench to have quick access to a charging station still works :)

The animations which the weapons have now look really great, IMO. Makes the game seem less janky.

The main thing people were concerned about was whether or not they'd uphold their Kickstarter promise of giving backers + pre-orderers of SS1 remake keys for this SS2 remaster. AFAIK they already flaked out on some like providing the higher roller backers with the SS customised Razer Blade portable gaming PCs.
That being said the asking price for the remaster is $30 USD. Hardly cheap for such an ancient game. Hopefully you get a tax increase that really hits you in the pocket as karma for your elitism displayed here.

$30 is steep for a remaster, but I would have paid it. My first impressions are positive. It's better looking and more polished, and the gameplay hasn't been messed with.
