So we don't have any Hammerites, we don't have any Pagans, we don't have any Keepers and we don't have any Mechanists.... But we get the "Graven" faction. Does anybody have any information on these guys? From the picture I saw, there was a guy with a long, wheel-like pendant and some robes that reminded me of Inquisitor robes.
(Makes me wonder if these guys are going to be our Keeper analogue, or maybe the Hammerites....)

I "think" all that has been revealed so far is that the Graven are a rebel faction that opposes the totalitarianism of the Baron's Watch.
I can see the plot miles away: you start working alone but for whatever reason, end up joining forces with the rebels, despite the narrative informing you that you are doing this for your own sake your actions only really benefit the Graven, inevitably you are going to end up being betrayed by them and etc... There will be the mandatory exposition talk between guards where they are going to show what evil bastards they are so the player doesn't feel guilty in killing them. The bad guy will do the cliche MUHAHAHAHA evil speech at the end ala Dishonored. There will be tons of fog, no interplay of shadows, focus-mode AWESOME-button, contextual jumping, leaning and rope arrow deployment, small levels, stupid AI, jarring trasitions to third person and etc. etc. etc.

While I do agree that that is a likely plot hook (as there are only so many plots in this world; what matters is how you spin it), everything after the word "Dishonored" has pretty much been brought up in other topics. Can we keep this one on topic at least, please?
But I digress. If they do anything with the Graven, I'd like to see them maybe evolve into something like, if not even, the Keepers. It might sound like a ridiculous idea, but at least it would be one of the old factions back. Even with all these changes, I still keep a shred of optimism that the final product will have some saving grace to old and new fans alike.

There's not a lot of information on the Graven.
My speculation for the Graven are that they are a pseudo religious group who appear to offer help and support to the people and are actually controlled by the Baron or the Baron is their leader
They demonstrate some mysterious mystical/magical ability to impress the masses, they whip up the people to give the Baron an excuse to retaliate and wipe them out, probably as sacrifices for some weird immortality deal or something.
After a couple of missions where they leave mysterious notes in his hideout the Graven send a representative who suckers Garrett in and he reluctantly goes to work for them.
After a couple more missions doing their bidding and incidentally stealing everything of value he can lay his hands on he eventually discovers in the second or third to last mission that what he's been stealing is paltry compared to what is actually at stake, the Graven and the Baron are essentially the same entity and he's been played for a fool while the innocent suffer.
Garret then exacts revenge for this over the course of the next couple of missions, and thwarts the evil Baron/Graven entities plans, saves the innocents and gets very rich in the progress.

I have no idea where I got the idea, but I thought the Graven were those infected with the plague.
The poor, sick have-nots who revolt against the haves.
There's a symbol drawn all over the concept art - a crossed out circle. Really it looks like the new city watch logo that has been crossed out. I assumed that this was the symbol of the Graven, painted all over the city as protest graffitti.

Could be I have to admit I was going off the picture on the Thief4 site with the priestly looking fellow standing over the people, there's another guy with a medallion that appears in the same shot, could be either for me or could even be the people themselves

Is the spelling 'Graven' actually confirmed and correct?
I would guess it should rather read 'Craven', meaning 'being cowardly/evil spirited'.
In the first Thief games you hear that term a lot.

Graven is correct.

This doesn't help much, but figured I'd post the blurb EM has on their main Thief website, thiefgame.com:
Quote:
"
The Graven - Sickness and oppression have robbed the citizens of their freedom, their happiness, and now threatens their very lives. The chains are chafing. Tensions mount. The people turn to anyone who can offer a ray of hope."
And these might all be "Gravens," but not sure. A couple of them (2nd and 3rd from the left) maybe have a Graven symbol painted on them:
