You find an assault rifle in SS2.
I never used it.

Jane's USAF had chaff and flares. Never used 'em. Along with landing gear, which were also optional.
(seriously though foo, the assault rifle was the best gun :/)

I hate how they say they create all kinds of new options for non-purists, but there is no talk about offering anything new or improved that purists can appreciate. I think we all agree that we don't just want a remake of the original with only updated graphics. I think we "purists" do want something that feels new, but not over-empowering, yet still reasonably familiar.

Yep. A lot of us know what you mean and agree, but 'ware the Tricksie ones who seek to bring Chaos!

To Too Much Coffee.... is that even possible? Too much coffee, I mean? :cheeky:
What's your favourite blend?

For me, the meat and potatoes of Thief was that the Missions were long winded and packed with exploration. I admit, that I want more of that, much much more! If they can just make the engine so that it delivers finely crafted Missions to the fullest extent, I wouldnt care if the damn thing was in software render! Just make a game that has memorable and replayable environments packed in every Mission, with that finely tuned original 1st person perspective, replete with underwater passasges and rope arrows for true in depth exploration.

There is no doubt we share similar preferences. I think we could be soul mates. How about it? :cheeky:

I hate that there's a hub. I like that so far it sounds like there's only one hub. If a mission the size and architecture of a Life of the Party map had more entrance points and more floors of those buildings accessible and explorable, the map wouldn't need to spread out further, and each map would have its own hub-like free roam on the way to the target building/room/item. If a mission taking the ideas and size of Thieves' Guild had more life in each room, more distinguishing features, more AIs in key places, I think those that dislike how it was would find it more enjoyable and worth replaying. There would never need to be a hub, while providing the hub-like free-roam smaller sandbox play (and getting rid of the weird collecting thing and visiting only one of Garrett's many hidey-holes and tenements). But they gotta go with how everyone else does it!
