Wait, wha.. I don't even...
Hehe, I chuckled.
So sorry. I prefer white spirit like tequila, vodka and rum. Those drinks don't make me 'shudder' like scotch does. :cheeky:

Just because it's said to be optional (and that can change between now and release), doesn't mean it won't have an impact on design (e.g. 3rd-person cover system in DE:HR)...as game design is often built around using this type of "option".

You can't compare the cover system to the focus dealie. The cover system was directly tied to the gameplay in such a way that it gimped you if you didn't use it. If you wanted to peek around a corner, you had to lean up against a wall to do so.
Focus, from what I understand, is more like a hint system for displaying interactive objects. Kinda like an extended frob effect. It'll help for showing where loot is hidden and whatnot, but ignoring it won't put you at too big of a disadvantage.
...as far as we know, anyway.

That's my point...we'll have to wait and see how much impact this feature will have...it could be a little or a lot. My purpose was to make that clear for those who may assume that "optional" automatically means "no impact".

Yup. But from the way things sound right now, it doesn't seem like it'll be as important to the gameplay as hugging the walls and taking cover was in DX:HR.
Focus is Super Frob. Unless they do something amazingly dumb, like make it so you can't peek around corners to spot guards cuz you absolutely have to use focus to see through walls to check out where they're at, ignoring it won't hurt you too much.

Isn't it also supposed to bring up a HUD pointing to various body parts for the player to choose a special move for a takedown?
Renzatic on 29/3/2013 at 01:09
Hmm. Good point. I stand semi corrected. Semi cuz it still doesn't sound as important as cover in HR.
...though none of you should ever see it, because a real professional thief wouldn't get in a fight in the first place.
