Good news as far as I'm concerned.
No such thing as bad news, right?

As far as Focus being optional. Nope... not for me.

I hope Focus adds laser-tracking loot glint and is used for slow-motion kill cams, slow time combat, combo hits, combo breakers, night vision, seeing trough walls and such.
Then I hope to the Builder and the Trickster that the "minimalist mode" is really made well and I can completely disable it.

Take the parkour automation and apply the engine for it to the loot, giving Garrett a super-loot-grabbing ability where he grabs all the loot in one swift automated move.
Oh wait, Focus does that.

Apparently the Focus ability is part of the story, which could impact how easy it is to ignore.
That has been one of my concerns ever since I read about this 'Focus ability' thing. How many other options can we disable and what effect will they have on the gameplay as well as the story? If we play in the minimalist mode are we going to lose out on gameplay & story? I don't like having things shoved down my throat, i.e.: 3rd person, and even though we may have the option to disable the Focus thing, it could still well mean that EM has made it so we don't fully enjoy the game unless we enable Focus, et al, and use all their shiny new gadgets and tricks.
