Patrick Stewart is among the New Year's list of those (
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/arts_and_culture/8434903.stm) knighted by the Queen. It's kind of surprising, because while I've been impressed with his performances I always figured that his career in sci-fi and genre films would disqualify him from this sort of honor.
Long live Jean-Luc Uriel Septiem Xavier, Knight Bachelor!
Peter Jackson on the other hand can go eat a bowl of dicks

Whilst to many people he's just Captain Picard, no doubt in the social circles that decide the honours his formidable reputation in the theatre more than overshadows any mere trifles he may have had with Starfleet or Magneto.
Not so sure about OBEs for Status Quo

He even writes his own (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IURfntimnlA) screenplays!!
"So in my film I play a man who controls the world with his mind. For instance, I'm walking along and I'd like to see her naked, so all of her clothes fall off."
(actually this might be the best thing he's ever done)
edit: aside from the (

I hate to be a pedant (ha, who am I kidding) but it ain't Queenie who decides on these things, you know.
Ulukai on 2/1/2010 at 20:40
Yeah, you're not kidding anyone :D
But yes, I know that; which is why I went on to say, "no doubt in the social circles that decide the honours"
Still, "Good Call, Queen" has a nice ring to it.

That's
Sir Peter Jackson to you, unruly peasant.
Though admittedly he's only half the film maker he used to be.

Too many uncouth heathens who can't appreciate the nuances of Heavenly Creatures and Forgotten Silver itt.
Also if you don't appreciate a good Jeffrey Combs vehicle then hand in your credentials as a Genre FiIm fan.
