That NSF yutz you free in MJ12... - by OHHDEAR

After getting captured, I freed that Miguel guy, the NSF doofus with a knife. He seems more than a little gung-ho and almost suicidal, attacking bots, rushing in EVERYWHERE. Is there any point in keeping him alive and/or with me?

Ask him to stay in his cell, and don't forget to tell him "run for it" AFTER the coast is cleared.

What happens if you get him out of the whole base (you know, the WHOLE base)
SJamieson on 8/12/2002 at 15:15
Don't think you can, really
because he can't level change with you
(unlike the excellent Halflife where I used to
enjoy building an army of Security guards to elminate the enemy forces :) )
Only thing would be to see if a flag is set when he leaves in order to make a difference, I'll try it this afternoon and let you know.

Rescuing Miguel makes no difference whatsoever. Not even a skill points bonus. You can get him out of "the WHOLE base", as Master V cleverly puts it, but all he'll do is thank you, and let you be on with your way.
Pointless really. Perhaps a bonus was intended, but not implemented? Hrhm...

Hmm, It appears I was wrong about
miguel not being able to cross level
borders,
The one that had me stumped is the change from inside unatco
to outside, where he stops a long way from the level change
(back at the water cooler) but even then he follows through
later on.
Perhaps the skill points you get for releasing him are the same no
matter how or when you do it, so you get them earlier, but don't
realise.
the other thing i just tried iss that you are told that you
need information from paul to defeat the killswitch
but if you go straight out the door already knowing the code 1125
then there is no attept to warn you and the killswitch is
stilldeactivated by tong.

I got Miguel stuck behind that securiy door with no way to get him out the one time I tried. Never mind, he can make his own way out later

And in my experience even if I kill/tranq every hostile being in MJ12 lab BEFORE I tell him to escape, he would stay in the detention area, right beside the alarm switch. If you go for a stroll or save the game he would be gone when you return, just like Paul in 'Ton hotel.
Speaking of Paul: Once I want Paul to clear 'Ton hotel for me, so I hid in elevator shaft and listen for gunfight. But UNATCO troops fired only a few shots then stopped, because Paul "SHAZAM! -- DISAPPEARED" and I have to fight for dozens of UNATCO troops alone (it's not very hard, but I'm reluctant to kill poor goody-goody UNATCO soldier. Killing MJ12 troops, on the other hand, is another story.):ebil:

Usually I always free him. He's just so polite guy, as he thanks when you are at the chopper.

Dormcat:
Paul does that if you don't speak to him after he kills the MIB's
If you do he tells you he is off to smuglers, you can then follow him
out and he'll take out the Unatco troops for you as well.
