What if I told you that the bow was actually built IRL by a couple of blacksmiths, and it's fully functional?
I saw it in a video. It's a prop and it is definitely not "fully functional" it has a draw weight of 0 and is strung with shoelaces.

It's definitely a prop. And definitely not even fully functional in any way. Look at how many times it doesn't quite work, and they gotta fiddle with it in that video. They aren't hiding the facts. It's plainly obvious when you just look at it, not the fantasy of it. The forging of the thing is the best part of the vid, and I enjoyed that and love that companies like that exist.

I saw the video where they build the new bow from sketch...
...the concept idea is interesting but... imho.. the design and the production is partially (if not totally) wrong.
1 - the weight - If Garrett choose a bow like that would be for important factors like weight and space occupied. About the weight, to make it in metal composite is a no-sense idea.
2 - space - the first reason to have a bow like that is to save some space in the inventory but the simple ''flick-flack'' of the ''wings'' is not enough to make it more carryable.. imho.
It should needs a more flexible and extended slide movement. (but i would totally re-design the idea).
3 - as someone just said, why not a ''foldable'' crossbow instead ?

It's called the Titanium Bow which makes sense as titanium is lightweight & strong. But the description says forged steel? So is titanium just a cool name?

Titanium can be alloyed with iron, aluminium, vanadium, molybdenum, among other elements, to produce strong lightweight alloys for aerospace (jet engines, missiles, and spacecraft), military, industrial process (chemicals and petro-chemicals, desalination plants, pulp, and paper), automotive, agri-food, medical prostheses, orthopedic implants, dental and endodontic instruments and files, dental implants, sporting goods, jewelry, mobile phones, and other applications.[2]

It's a new aesthetic for sure. Along with Mr G's new mittens.
I suppose I can get with the idea that Mr G. spends his spare evenings obsessively crafting a bespoke burglary suit + the other ingenious tools of his trade which, if I'm being generous, is I think what they're trying to get at. But it's all a bit batman. A bit, well, anal. And it makes me wonder if the creative minds aren't a bit anal and batman too.
I like to think that someone as sage and worldly as Mr G. would
eschew embrace simplicity and efficiency. Part of his character, for me at any rate, was that he wasn't a Mechanist, or a Pagan or Keeper or whatever other noble thing. He was a parasite - a taker of things - one amongst a society of other parasites - but Garrett at least earned maybe a bit of admiration from the player for his personal skill and derring do. Now he's a guy with a batsuit.
Eidos Montreal have some specific ideas that kinda don't fit the narrative that I imagined. Ho hum.
I can agree for the most part, the problem is while Batman could be a great inspiration, they're drawing all the wrong aspects from the character and giving them to Garrett... in some regards yes, I can imagine Garrett being similar to Batman, but he is also an entirely different character who does things his own way, and often chooses simple things over complexity's. It's as though they wish to suck out all subtleness about Garrett's character, and make him just another superhero out to save the day.

You are aware that a "good wooden bow" is hardly heavier than one pound and this thing is made of several mm thick metal plates...? Even if this thing was made of aluminium it would still be significantly heavier, left aside steel or titanium.
On a related note, their folding knife looks great. If the Eidos guys would just have abstained from using a modern compound bow's design as a base, this might have become something unique in its visuals.

On the brighter side, it looks like they went with a similar aiming mechanic that The Dark Mod uses, no sights,
I didn't think it was really necessary, but we got a LOT of requests for a sight after release, so we eventually added one as a menu option.

With a sight, there's no need to figure out which pixel on each arrow type is the central one, especially with the rounded arrowheads. With a vertical sight, the bow can be angled any old way without influencing how an individual brain processes that information, but I reiterate I'd rather the bow was held vertically, and I don't know why TDS and Thief[4] got this wonky idea that vertical, angled, or horizontal is merely an aesthetic choice.
