So I may play TG-widescreen, I did the "widescreen patch" thing. I notice when my monitor is at its max res. of 1920X1200 and the cam.cfg and ddfix.ini files to the same, two black borders appear on each side of the screen when I start and play the game. If I kept the screen at 1920x1200 but set the ini and cfg files to 1600x1200 the game looks relatively beautiful.
Why do black borders appear when I set the game's res to equal the max res of the monitor (assuming the monitor is set to max res already)? I'd think black borders would appear when the game res is set to less than the max res of the monitor.
As for the "relative" beauty of the game, I also noticed that while everything seems sharper, there also seems to be a white haze blanketing the the game (both in-game and at the splash screens). Why is this so?

Yes, but why does it happen? And what about the white haze? It's almost like there's a
slight loss of pigment in the colors.

It's mainly only the menu for me which I don't mind at all. If the actual game has black borders, that does kind of suck. Thief as you know is an old game game, the menus were originally made for a much lower resolution than today's widescreen monitors.

I like the black borders, it keeps the menus at the aspect ratio it was meant to show at (4:3). It looks really goofy to stretch the menus and movies to 16:9 in my opinion.
