I've been using DromEd for Thief 2 for some time now, but now I'm also trying to get DromEd running for Thief Gold and am having an issue.
Once I enter game mode the resolution reverts to 640 x 480 and I get an error text at the top of the screen that says 'The requested screen mode could not be set'.
I've tried two fresh installs and complete new dark patches along with the dromed toolkit and still get the same error. I've also messed with the settings in the config files pertaining to screen depth and resolution with no luck. Oddly enough I can run the regular game fine in 1920 x 1080 x 32, it's only broken in DromEd's game mode. I've searched the forums with no luck, any help is appreciated!

"I've tried everything" is not very helpful - tell us what
exactly that means.
but generally, (

Hey I never said that! But thanks to you and EnYB0La I've solved it. I was following the instructions from the toolkit thread shown here:

InstallationThief1/Thief Gold with Newdark1. Install Thief1 or Thief Gold, and ensure it is patched to its latest version (1.33 for Thief1, and 1.37 for Thief Gold).
2. Install Newdark, and follow the instructions provided in .\Doc\T1.7z to get it working with Thief1.
3. Extract the DromEd Basic Toolkit to your root Thief1 directory. Overwrite any files when prompted.
4. For Thief Gold, also copy the contents of .\tools\Thief1 Gold Dromed\ to your root Thief Directory
Those directions don't mention to
extract the contents of "editor.zip" into your Thief directory, but the instructions from Bretheren below show extracting DromEd from NewDark. Also, the instructions from T1.7z don't mention it. I was using DromEd for Thief Gold from the tools folder included with the DromEd Basic toolkit. I didn't realize I needed to use the Thief 2 editor for Thief 1. Once I extracted the editor files from NewDark v1.24 instead of the ones included in the toolkit, everything works fine. Thanks for the help guys!

Here is one way to get a Thief Gold Dromed environment going, I believe this should work:
1. Install Thief 1 or Gold.
2. Update with Tfix. (Keep in mind, if installing just for the contest, you'll want to uncheck everything since only stock resources are allowed)
3. Install the Dromed Toolkit.
4. Grab the latest copy of New Dark and extract the contents of "editor.zip" into your Thief directory.
With each step, you should overwrite any previously existing files.

Might as well go ahead and update to 1.25 while you're fussing with it.

The NewDark page says Tfix currently uses 1.24, are you on 1.25 for your anniversary map? No issues?

It now uses 1.25 since voodoo47 updated it today.

1.25 has been out for 10 months, I'm sure voodoo47 didn't only update TFix today.
voodoo47 on 8/1/2018 at 08:24
correct. and yes, if using TFix, you indeed need editor.zip to get Dromed working. will add that to the first TFix post. //done
also yeah, the (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141148) ND topic still says 1.24, that's why he got confused.

I've been investigating a little bit this case and I can conclude that the final installation process of DromEd for Thief Gold should be like this:1. Install Thief Gold (Steam, GOG or CD)
2. Install TFix (Full or Lite) (overwrite files, if Lite version used)
3. Unzip DromEd Toolkit content into Thief Gold game folder (overwrite files)
4. Unzip editor.zip content from the latest NewDark patch into Thief Gold game folder (overwrite files),
excluding 'DromEd.cfg' file
5. Copy, paste and overwrite in Thief Gold game folder files contained in Tools\Thief1 Gold Newdark Dromed
---
Why should you avoid the NewDark DromEd.cfg file from editor.zip to be copied/pasted?Inline Image:
https://i.snag.gy/xhXqvw.jpgThe NewDark DromEd.cfg file will overwrite the modified/optimized DromEd Toolkit one.
I suppose that AntiMatter should update his DromEd Toolkit to include this NewDark code into his DromEd.cfg file:
Code:
; when the editor is running in HW 2D mode (see below) it can use HW to generate the thumbnail images
; in the new texture palette by enabling this option (even if this option isn't enabled it will still
; use HW to generate thumbnails for native DXT textures, because the software routines doesn't support it)
;new_texpal_thumb_hw
; when an unnamed multibrush gets deselected (by selecting another brush outside the group) the multibrush
; will be automatically dissolved if this option is enabled
;auto_dissolve_unnamed_groups_on_deselect
