Wow, what a great mission! I think it has replaced Sepulchre of the Sinistral as my second-favourite T1 mission. Of course, it's completely different, not as grand but much more...cozy. Kind of a Disorientation Medium (I see Shadow Politics as Disorientation Light).
I had no problems running this in Darkloader using the workaround described in the initial post.
Took me quite a while to figure out how to get into that Hammerite torture chamber/storage/wine cellar. I had simply forgotten to enter the priest's quarters! When I finished, I had no loose ends (i.e. places I wanted to go but couldn't) and missed only 234 loot, which I am quite proud of. Probably stuff on windowsills, mostly.
I am even more proud that I only used a single reload (got surprised by an archer that fired a second arrow (that killed me) the very same moment that I managed to drop a flash bomb). Not once did I plunge to the ground like a taffer.
I have one problem with NewDark. Or two, actually, but they are related.
When I crouch and drop down to a ladder or rope, I often fall off it once I start to descend. This never happened in the old patches. So, when possible, I have started to stand up when I drop off instead. A complication with this in T1 NewDark is that the walking speed is somewhere between 'walk' and 'creep' as they are in T2. So if I want to walk down and attach onto a ladder, the walking speed is usually too slow to get me over the edge, and using the running speed is dangerous, as I may get too far and just fall down. Any solutions you can suggest?
However, it sure is nice that T1 rope arrows are no longer buggy.
Oh, and one last thing: I really felt for Beric's wife. Just wanted to take her away somewhere so she could start a new life, and I couldn't help wonderering what's going to happen to her now that her mean husband is dead.

Thanks for the comment. My upcoming FM is bigger and more vertical, with a more obscure layout that can take you almost everywhere on the level, and of course some hidden bits (and some very hidden).
I never encountered what you mention with NewDark, so I can't really help you there I'm afraid. I usually crouch and attach to the top of a ladder, and once I'm on it I immediately release crouch so I don't detach.

Even more vertical
Obscure layout :D
My heart is fainting... having to wait for that new mission to see the light of day.

I kind of liked that the mission layout wasn't so obscure. As soon as I got a good bird's eye view from a new place I had made it to, it was usually possible to figure out where on the map I was. I liked that.
More loot hunting got me to 3900. Got the last missing bit with help from the lootlist. I can say that I would have been very unlikely to find that within many more hours of hunting by myself. That gem in the Keeper place - evil, evil loot placement!

Do the weight-sensitive pedestals do anything? I found three in total: Two in the wife's room, with flowers on them, and one more in the basement.
I managed to depress all of them with bodies, but haven't found that it made any difference. Am I missing something? Or is their weight-sensitivity just a holdover from their original use in the Haunted Cathedral?

I have not found any use for these pedestals either. They were not mentioned in any readable either. I think it's some kind of wrong configuration of these pedestals or some leftover like the one you mentioned.

Well only 9 yrs after its release, I get around to playing this. I started shacky's FM with Endless Rain. Doing so kinda spoiled this one a bit as ER is such a huge refinement of his style and content. Shacky always makes me feel like an idiot with the way he places the levers to the second part or hidden part of the mission content. The wine cellar lever was hidden just so that even if you are frobbing around really well, you can miss it - I did. I spent a couple of hours frobbing & searching every inch of that mansion - including the wine cellar.
I really enjoy the combination of vertical & underground content of these missions. In shacky's missions there is always one or two really meanly placed areas that you have to perform come tricky acrobatics to get to an isolated area. Sliding down a 12:12 roof twice (once to get to a ledge, and once to slide into a window sill to get into position to shoot rope arrows to reach the next area) was fun but pretty mean, lol.
Overall I enjoyed it. One major beef I have with the plotliine: I think Garret upon discovering the necklace's owner was murdered and the item was missing, would most likely have given up on the necklace. Why? Because when the necklace was fenced, the murder would come back on him no matter how discrete he was about it. Fences do talk. I think him pursuing this to the end is out of character. Just my opinion. I think this could be resolved by adding a foolproof way to pin the murder / robbery on someone else that he had a grudge with.

Another superb mission by skacky! I usually can name at least one thing that could be improved, but here I can't think of anything. The quality of the architecture, textures, guard placements, vertical climbing sections, and hidden rooms make for a very enjoyable experience. Maybe the story could be a bit stronger, but that's about it.
Finished on Normal difficulty in 1 hour and 2 minutes with 3366 of 4000 loot. I needed 0 hints to complete Between These Dark Walls, which is always good.
I got most of the references in the readables, except for the Gems of Sarnoth and the Larloch Society. Can someone tell me where they are from?

I suspect they are references to Calendra series and that joke level from Thief 1 - whatever its name was...
