ok all my testing is complete.
I can replicate the crash on systems with on-board audio. One of my older systems has an EAX compabitble card and vendor supplied driver that doesn't crash UNLESS the number of sound channels is lower than 24.
It looks like windows 11 sound driver DLL is locking a thread in the game engine.
The only fix I can say will work 100% of my test platforms is disable goal notification, disable auto-equip and make sure the sound channels is above 24. - btw this also solves a crash to desktop for other FM's that trigger goal notifications while reading a scroll/book.

Snake and other Taffers, I really enjoyed this mission. I am having difficulty with two secrets and read posts of what I think I am missing but I still am unable to find them. I understand one is on the roof of the church. Is this the church in the beginning of the mission? If so how in the heck do I get up there? I have been able to access part of that area but not the very top. While I was being more careful looking, I did find the tower with the skeletal tarot reader by the cemetery. And the coins. That was fun.The second secret that I think I may be missing is in the Inn. I have taffed the gem in the sword. Is that the secret? I cannot recall it being a secret when I grabbed it. I also grabbed the item in the rafters. If that is not the secret, can I get a heavy hint where it is? Again, thanks for this FM.
Edit: I found the one in the Inn. Jeez. I even looked there.

Glad you enjoyed the mission!
Regarding the secrets you are correct in identifying the two you are missing. One is on the roof of the church, the higher part of the roof. You will need to jump from one thing... to another thing.. and then another! Have a look around and see if you can do some acrobatics. The second secret is in the inn, in the upstairs bedroom, look carefully around there, near the bed.

Version 1.3 of this mission is now available (Google Drive link in OP is updated) with the following fixes/changes:
- The changes noted in v1.2 have been removed, with the statue head puzzle bug now completely solved via a jointed lever object, kindly created by vfig. Statue heads now behave as levers and the puzzle combination/head rotation locations cannot be broken, they always remain in sync.
- Flee points added to mission.

Just wanted to add my thanks and congrats on this mission, really well done.
It was a lot of fun to play, but I have to say that the [spoiler]kick in the balls was coming out of the water and seeing the obstacle course. I was instantly transported back 20+ years, I had to play on it a bit![/spoiler]
