Now that's what I call thinking outside the box... literally :laff:
I've actually just mocked up a new version in the past few minutes. I am changing NVscript to react on FrobWorldEnd instead and speeding up the tweq rotation speed of the heads. I am also adding a failsafe in case the puzzle breaks again somehow which I will spoiler tag below as you may not have got to that section yet.
There is an exit from the Restricted Library into the Chapter House through a floor panel but I designed the mission so that you could not enter the Restricted Library from that side as it would bypass the puzzle. So instead, I am going to include a very hard to find switch which will open the floor panel from the Chapter House side. So in case anyone gets stuck again, I can point them to that switch as an alternative entry point and it would avoid players having to start over if they encounter a problem with the puzzle.

Ha, it's funny because I noticed that suspicious floorboard in the chapter house and hit it with my blackjack to see if it's an object or terrain. And yup, it was an object. Looked for a switch for a while, didn't find anything, figured it might open from the other side later.
Finished the mission, it was pretty great, rated it 8/10. The bugged puzzle was the only downside.

Glad you liked it and sorry the puzzle bugged out. It was always on my mind that it might cause problems again so I am going to get that new version up tonight and hopefully it doesn't break again.

Version 1.2 of this mission is now available (Google Drive link in OP is updated) with the following fixes/changes:
- Statue heads are no longer frobbable and are now instead directly controlled by switches. This eliminates all bugs related to the statue head puzzle.
- If for some reason the statue head puzzle still fails, there is an alternative entrance added to the Restricted Library - a very concealed switch in the Chapter House will open the floor panel from that side.

Great mission, thanks for building and sharing. Hope you have a lot of ideas for Thief missions :thumb:

In the new 1.2 version I get a crash to desktop when reading the note on the drowned thief where the compound key is found - as soon as the "new objective" sound plays with the note on screen the game exits to desktop.
edit: before you ask - no mods enabled - newdark fresh install of tfix.

Hi lordhern, if I recall, I think you had the same crash issue at this point in the previous version of the mission too? I've not had any other reports of this from others so I'm not sure what might be causing it. Have you any kind of crash dump messages?
lordhern on 5/9/2024 at 13:52
the priror build I can avoid that crash by being not "moving" in the water right after a quick load.
in 1.2 it crashes to destkop with nothing written to the crash dump file. the new objective sound seems to to "stutter" like it's being triggred multiple times.
when I was running the original version I was launching with fmsel - on this setup i'm launching with angelloader. - I will see if I can get some statistics on the weekend.

I did a quick test - I disable both "auto equip" and "goal notification". It allowed me to click through the readable and not get the garret quip about the keeprs trigger _until_ the readable is dismissed.
now that I have a hard save I'll be able to compare my play notes from before.
On Saturday i'll restore the VM of my old fmsel setup - I'll check that one for the auto equip and goal notification setup.

Ok thanks for that update. I use FMsel so not sure if it could be something crashing when running it through Angelloader. There are three or four new objectives triggered I think, each playing a sound.
Also if you are just playing 1.2 to see any gameplay differences, there is nothing material changed other than the statue heads, which are now controlled by switches. A briefing video was added in v1.1
