Hi guys,
I see some ads for getting ringtones and wallpapers from my favorite shows and video games, where you text a certain word or something to a number, usually just a 5-digit one. After I send the text how do I check to see if I got what I wanted? I just starting getting into this so I am unsure of how it all works. Thanks guys!

prob just another scam, why not just pay the $1.25?

Or just download the sound as an mp3 online and put it on your phone's memory card. That is if you have one.
$3.99 for a firetruck siren??

It is likely that you will be sent a WAP Push which is essentially a link. You click on the link and will be taken online to a mobile site. The mobile site will then check which phone you are running and then initiate a download of the correct type for your model of phone.
This is how it typically works in the UK. I've written platforms that perform this function :)

What I'd suggest is send your phone whatever song/image you want from your computer via bluetooth. I've never paid for any of that silly stuff.

Your computer has blue tooth capabilities?

Alc is right, Bluetooth is the easiest way to deal with this stuff.

You should be careful about this kind of thing. If you are lucky it will only be a 3.99 to 9.99 charge. (look close !) Some of these things are a monthly billing ripoff. They 'rent' you the ringtone, not sell it to you.
