Anyone else think the plot sounded lame?
I don't know. I think that it's a "side effect" of how the trailer is done. It is very
àla Lord of the Rings and "A Hero Will Rise" and such is pretty dumb. But the death of the emperor and the opening of the gates of oblivion fits perfectly in the whole Elder Scrolls timeline. I really believe that the plot will be better than Morrowind.
After all, they could have made a lame trailer like "A Hero will fight an ancient God gone mad", that would have described MW perfectly.

That way you could incorporate nifty little combos that use body movement, weight and force. We have scary physics engines out there now boys and girls.
That's EXACTLY what they're trying to do. Using realistic physics (apparently, everyone was impressed with the physics engine at E3) and real movement + combo system for combat.

I was thinking the same thing..it soes the fit the ES history rather well, but I was also thinking the gate to Oblivion,OH my where could you go from here?
Is this the last game in the series :(

Nah, of course not. Remember, the Elder Scrolls is supposed to be a real world, not a game. This is just one event in a history of others. And remember that, like all empires, this one must fall too. I'm sure when the Roman Empire collapsed, a lot of people thought it was the end of the world as well :thumb:
Personally, I think they would only stop making games if they go bankrupt. And even if they did go bankrupt, I think they'd put themselves seriously in debt just to deliver us one final, encore game. Bethesda just seems nice like that.

The trailer didn't really explain the plot. The other vague information we've got so far is that the plot is that
Quote:
you are given the task of finding the hidden heir to a throne that sits empty, the previous emperor having been killed by an unknown assassin. With no true Emperor, the gates to Oblivion (the equivalent of hell in the world of Tamriel) open, and demons begin to invade Cyrodiil and attack its people and towns. It's up to you to find the lost heir to the throne and unravel the sinister plot that threatens to destroy all of Tamriel.
The only thing that would be really lame is if they go the obvious route and make it so that
you are the heir,
but considering the many races possible in the game, I'd think that's not even remotely in the picture.

All evidence, from what I can tell, is that you aren't the Heir.

A shame they've abandoned the innovative style of Morrowind - for all the graphical effects, the 'medieval-fantasy' style is incredibly bland.
(they should have set it in Sumerset Isle... oh well)

Agreed. I liked the slightly alien\weird feel to Morrowind. Mushroom Towers and Glass armour as opposed to just stone castles and chainmail.
RyushiBlade on 2/6/2005 at 22:29
Nah, they probably do have more unique armor. They just don't want to spoil anything for you.
