Nice. After seeing those still I have this irrepressible urge to install it again.

I've almost played through the game 2 or 3 times, I've never completed the last level tough.
Am I missing out on a great end-sequence?

Well, that depends. Do you think the acting in the FMV scenes was any good. The end is just a video cutscene.

Well there's a brief CGI FMV (like the suit-up, fly-out, drop-down sequences), followed by a cut-scene with the squad.
I kinda like it. It's still cheesy, but I used to repeatedly load and beat the mission just to watch the sequence over again.
I recommend trying to beat the mission.
<strong>SPOILER WARNING -- FINAL MISSION TACTICS DISCUSSED BELOW</strong>

Give everyone personal shields (except Brandt who has the explosives). I actually give myself turrets which I drop all around the vicinity of the fuel tank where Brandt is working -- explosions will destroy them, though, so sometimes my squad blows them up :)
I'd say try to keep in formation so they don't accidentally blow each other up too, but I never really make much effort there :)
Take out the heavy turrets/tanks first with your accelerator, take out any clones in the immediate vicinity, then send Brandt to do his stuff and basically protect him until he's done.
I also take out all the early opponents solo, to make sure the squad doesn't get hurt before we even reach the base -- you ideally want them in full health going in to ensure that you make it out.
There are other strategies, of course; this is just mine. Good luck!

<a href="http://shadowcat.freehosting.net/tnova2.html">New Screenshots</a>! :)
(This time I made them .pngs and kept them at 320x400 to reduce the file size, and told the web browser to stretch them to 640x400. Should look just as good, but load faster than the first lot.)

I love this game SOOOOOOOOO much.
What the screenies don't capture is the atmosphere that surrounds you. My favorite mission (whilst not the hardest or longest) is the nighttime rescue mission, with your squad being highlighted by the flashes of lightning. CLASS!

God yes, the storms are brilliant! The driving rain, the sheet and forked lightning, and the THUNDER in beautiful surround(ish) QSound crashing and rumbling through a modern sound system. Simply fantastic...

Yeah, the weather sure does add to the game.
I still like the moon missions. The utter stillness is cracked by the mortor attacks that seem to hit you right at the start on the first assault mission.

Those screenshots actually encouraged me to play a game. I play it from time to time so it's not anything too special, though.
I agree with you people about the graphics. Especially two of the screenshots got me to play: the "Peaceful" shot and the jumpjetting-over-a-lake shot.
I also fought the protect convoy & ships mission several times until I figured out to send all my squadmates to protect the ships (and gave them the "rush enemy" command) and defended the convoy alone.
I also have my own tactics for the last mission bu they don't differ very much from the ones presented by the others so I don't think it's worth it to repeat them.
