Hello everybody.
I've tried to follow all advise on these pages on how to get TN to work on an XP operating system. And it worked, partially at least.
The problem is that the menus are very corrupted, compressed and scattered beyond readability on the top third of the screen. If I somehow manage to hit the right button (quite an effort actually) the game loads up and works perfectly from there.
In brief: Any clues on how to get the menus straight?
I've tried the badlinmodes, badpaldac and the nounivbe tags. Ive also tried the NOLFB and the Vesafix patches - None have been succesful.
So I'm humbly (read desperately) asking if anyone has any clues or more command taglines I can try?
Sys specs:
P4 2,4Ghz
512ram
Radeon9700 128mb
WinXP pro
Gothic - Extremely grateful for any answers.

Greetings,
Have you tried combining some of the fixes?
I'm on Win98 but I also had some real menu problems with my Radeon and Terra Nova. The layout was messed up. I got it working with vesafix and the command line options +nounivbe and +badpaldac. The latter option was only needed because the colours were also messed up in the menu, I don't think it had anything to do with the layout. My Radeon is a 128MB version of the 8500 model.
Of course Win XP might be adding its own spice into this soup, too.

He already tried all of that. :p

I've got practically the same setup and having the exact same problem. The menus are fine under Win98, but under XP they are all messed up regardless of the +badlinmodes parameter. Unfortunately, since I also have an Audigy 2, I cannot play with sound under Win98 because the Audigy 2 doesn't have any legacy DOS driver support, which, IMHO, is incredibly stupid.
I use VESAFIX to get TN to run at all, and NOLFB to get to the menus after the opening cinematics. "+Badlinmodes" doesn't seem to have any effect. "+Badpaldac" fixes the color problem on the menus (in Win98, especially... not sure if that problem happens in XP). "+Nounivbe" also doesn't seem to do anything.
I think the problems we are having are specific to the ATI cards... and maybe even more specifically to the 9700's.

It's specific to Radeon's apparently, because I'm having the exact same problem, only on a Radeon 7000. Anyone having any luck getting these menus sorted out?

I had this issue once, but +BADLINMODES and Vesafix corrected it. You might want to try +NOUNIVBE, which fixed some other stuff on my DOS rig, but beyond that I can't think of anything.

I wonder if anyone could shed light on my graphics issue?
I'm running TN through DOSBox 0.61. Great, intro plays, can see videos, menus etc. However, when I enter the game engine itself, I'm confronted with a screen which is a quarter-size, in the top-left. Perhaps it's due to my resolution?
The really weird part is, there's an exact copy in the top-right too. Great if I had a VFX-1 for stereoscopic effect, but not so good on a normal monitor. :erg:
