We'd love to have TN2 as well! 8)
Unfortunately.... LGS just shut down; from what is starting to come out, a developer always runs hand-to-mouth, and a few recent events have combined to stop its cash-flow, despite Thief 2 doing quite well.
You'll find a lot of seriously unhappy people on these forums. Including me.
On the other hand, the road is now clearer to DIY for TN2: because it is the only way it will happen.

Although expensive, it should be possible for the "right people" to be able to purchase the Rights for Terranova, and to the either re-develop the original, or to develop a sequel, should it not?
I would expect to see it become a very, very popular game if it was enhanced with today's hard & software. If it also had multiplayer support, it would kick it's fair share of rear-end.
Just think: a layout of a little $$ could turn into ***$$$$$$***, equalling a LOT of happy people! (Like I would be <IMG SRC="thumb.gif" border="0"> )

Not a bad idea, but the best thing about Terra Nova was its gameplay. A "spiritual sequel" could retain the gameplay (and expand on it) without needing the franchise rights. Think of Arx and Ultima Underworld.
