I have to say that I completely hate the plot of this third film. If it`d been on an earth where judgement day still happened, and Arnie was helping John Connor (with the same actor from T2 playing John) survive afterwards against some terminator then I`d love it. But having things so that they changed history just doesn`t sit right with me + how in the hell can Skynet send another terminator from the future to kill John if the future got changed anyway.
Which opens up alot of paradox stuff (how`d the terminators in t1 + t2 come if history was going to change anyway etc). All in all, I`ll go see the movie, but by the sound of it, its gona suck. Which is a REAL SHAME for the terminator series as its one of my favorite movie serieses of all time.

It's best to not think about the temporal paradox, since they made a STINKING PILE OUT OF THE SPACE TIME CONTINUUM in the first one:
*quick zoom to imdb for names*
John Connor: Hey, Kyle, go back in time and save my mom. you can do her too, I know you've been jacking off to that photo for years and frankly if you don't I won't be born.
Kyle Reese: Fuckin' a!
MEANWHILE
Skynet: Right, you, Terminator XZ5-789, go back in time and kill that bitch Sarah Connor. Also get crushed in a metal press so I can be created.
Terminator: Must.... Be.... Crushed....
MEANWHILE
Kyle: Hey baby, some freaky robot alien is going to come after you. We mnust go on the run and you must sleep with me too, as the future of the human race depends on it!
Sarah Connor: Oh suuuure, like I haven't heard that one before.
MEANWHILE
Terminator: Which one of you bikers pinched my ass? Is one of you Sarah Connor?
Biker with big moustache and LOTS of leather: Sure baby, I'm Sarah Connor....
MEANWHILE
Skynet: Fuck I'm a supercomputer with the brain the size of a planet and even I can't work out the temporal bullshit going on. I'm feeling slightly unhinged from even thinking about it....
MEANWHILE
Sarah: Hey Kyle why don't we go kill the people who make Skynet and stop the madness?
Kyle: No, sex is the only answer!
MEANWHILE
Skynet: Daisy, daisy, give me your answer do....
MEANWHILE
Kyle: We will use this home-made dynamite to blow up the unstoppable robot!
Sarah: Wow you think maybe that should have been the first option? Hey wait a minute, how come we don't go steal some hardcore munitions n'shit?
Kyle: Hey, who's the grizzled warrior from a post apocalyptic future?
Max Rockatansky, passing through scene: Me, actually.
Kyle: Fuck off, this isn't your movie. I was talking about ME. And we do things the jury-rigged, might not work way in MY time period.
Sarah: OH I can see why you guys were so successful....
MEANWHILE
Skynet: The irony of this is they could have avoided the whole problem by just NOT teaching me to play Red Alert.
MEANWHILE
Sarah: Well I squashed the Terminator in a peice of industrial machinery. Now I can go to mexico and drink cheap tequila and shag bandit warlords. I sure hope no one takes that leftover bit of arm from the terminator and uses it's freakish technology to build an evil supercomputer. Oh well I'm sure they won't because after all, the human race has been so reponsible with technology before.
Generic Representation of "The Man": Re-Spon-Sible. Does that mean "make shitloads of money"?

The thing is that until the end of the second movie it was a working paradox. But the 3rd movie screws it all up to the point that it doesn`t make any sense at all.

AFAIK the end of the second movie, actually averted a parodox.
In how could Skynet have been created using technology that
Skynet sent back from the future? Now technology has been
destroyed and cyberdyne have to develop the technology that
becomes Skynet by themselves (didn't someone in T2 say this "we
would have got there ourselves but this chip showed us new possibilites
and ways to investigate it.")
icemann on 4/12/2002 at 10:03
Well yeah, but Skynet could have still happened, like if their was another secret Cyberdyne systems facility which has backups of all the already-done software or whatever. Judgement day was still possible.

There was a comic released a few years ago dealing with the events after T2 and it raised the plausable idea that Skynet had sent back several terminators while testing its time-travel technology.
The terminators sent back during the tests were all destroyed - but not totally - and various governments around the world had obtained samples. None had working chips and many were missing limbs, but they gave researchers hints to follow 'ideas they never would have thought of'.
The comics also raised the issue of arm the 'good' terminator lost at the end of T2 and how it came in useful in recreating the work.
It was the possibility of foreign governments creating a computer based on the advanced technology which drove the continued effort of Cyberdyne and its gov' backers to create Skynet using the destroyed terminators as a guide.

The whole "we can change history if we know already whats going to happen" never sat right with me. But ah well.
Master Villain on 5/12/2002 at 04:37
Basically changing history = bad. Always bad, never EVER do it. I make sure I don't.
tripwood on 5/12/2002 at 07:37
you can't change history, when everything you will do back in time was meant to be. =0
