So there I was, heading to Sadrith Mora to become Telvanni Hortator. Went to the council house, talked to the mouths, who all said, essentially, 'All councillors have to vote unanimously for a hortator, so go talk to Master/Mistress so-and-so.'

At which point I said to myself, 'Well, hypothetically, if all the councillors were dead, there'd be no one to vote against me.'

So I killed 'em. Every last one. Wiped 'em out, then named myself Hortator. :ebil:

'Course, then I had to figure out where the heck the token of telvanni-hortatorness was, or rather, WHAT the token of Telvanni Hortatorness was, and then where it was, but luckily my character is sadistic enough to have talked to the councillors before sneaking away and shooting them from afar, so I knew Aryon was probably the dude who originally had it, so then I just had to find it in his house. Which, after a bit of searching, I did. *laughs maniacally*

(Of course, this was all last eve, and I've since checked a few of the spoiler websites, and found that my way is indeed a legitimate way to complete the quest, and therefore most of you are probably all aware of it, but hey, I was amused, so I figured I'd share. :cheeky: )

Of course, don't try this tactic with the other Great Houses... they don't like their leaders being killed quite as much as those crazy Telvanni! :D

Nope, I'm in Hlaalu. The robe appears in a crate in Aryon's quarters (took me a *long* time to find it--I was almost ready to revert to my pre-massacre save when I finally found it)

mlk8f: Interesting, I knew about the robe, I just was never able to see how you'd get Telvanni Hortator if you weren't Telvanni. Good to know, thanks ;)
