Kafein, do yourself a favour and play BG2, it's quite possibly the best CRPG ever after Planescape: Torment (I'm not going to start talking about PS:T right now, it would take too long). Baldur's Gate 2 is really all about extremes, it strives to be the most epic isometric D&D experience, and for the most part it really gets a lot of things right...the world is a lot less static than MW's and there's way more to do in terms of quests, characters, and story...in the end what makes it so unforgettable is the sheer power you have by the end of the game (and unlike MW there'll always be someone tougher than you), to the point where the levels of destruction and battles become almost surreal...the good vs. evil conflict is handled in a slightly more original way too, simply because of who your character is.
Anyway, it's a game you can have a lot of fun with, and unlike MW you don't have to fully turn your brain off to appreciate it fully... and my advertising is done, just play the game, k?

... *shrugs* You're entitled to your own opinions, I guess...
Morrowind is a very easy game to get into. It's not terribly complicated, unless you want to make it complicated for yourself by actually thinking about all the conflicts in the game. You've got the Battle at Red Mountain, the Disappearance of the Dwarves, Lord Nerevar's death... But you don't need to think about those if you don't want. It's probably safe to say you'd be able to get in sync with Morrowind even if it's your first RPG.

:) u'r welcome meenie... crpg is "computer role playing game". i used to call them just rpg, because the pen and paper rpgs were called frp. but now they r all called rpg, so we have to use crpg for the digital ones. and i think u mean mmorpg for mo...
it is "massively multiplayer online rpg" i dont play online games too much because my connection is dial up. and most of the times i feel more comfortable with the artificial intelligence controlled characters:)
and about cheating... i cheat very seriously sometimes:cheeky: for example in vampire the masquerade: redemption, i just learnt the cheat "revive" or whatever it was called... it was resurrecting the characters with full blood. yes i've used it maybe a hundred times... no not in the whole game, in each battle:cool:. because i was very angry that it was so hard! if i were one of the characters, it would be much easier to feed myself, but it was something completely different to deal with 4 characters at the same time in a game. and worse, the ones who use spells (and they usually decide to do it by their selves) dont use mana for casting, guess what they use!!!!!!!! and another game that i just played for few hours and did nothing but cheat was bloodrayne... controls were very awful... worse, she was getting damage by any kind of interaction with "water"! and worse, the first levels of the game, that i could hardly complete, was nearly "underwater"!!! she had to see more water than any kind of fish would! so... she kept dieing too! and what i did, i cheated:) but it was not enough for me to play the whole game anyway...if i become a vampire myself ever sometime, i'm sure i'll have a real hard time!
but i've never cheated in morrowind. just except once that i've killed someone that was very important for my career. so i brought it back by cheating:)
and illuminatus, the thing about BG2 is that it's "isometric". after playing 1st or 3rd person perspectived games, i think it would be very hard to command a bunch from the top... and see them in 2D... sorry... i know it is a good game, but ...
in morrowind-like games the game becomes too personal that u start living in it. but in isometric games, i just feel like commanding a bunch of helpless characters:) and i just ask them "yes guys, what do u want to do now? where do u have to go? i'll take u there, but then u r on yor own:)" it's like playing warcraft:)

What the hell did caffiene just say?
RyushiBlade on 1/12/2003 at 21:57
Buggered if I know.
Nah, I'm kidding. He's just explaining about the cheating aspect of Morrowind and other games too. And explaining some other miscellaneous stuff on other RPG's.

Hi Illuminatus,
You hit the nail on the head with Baldur's Gate. I thought it was a really fun game and I loved the characters.

Hi Kafein!
Thanks for the heads up on Crpg :) I've just always called it RPG.... and I stated playing D&D when it was just a bunch of funny dice and a DM with some graph paper <G>
I fell in love with Fantasy when I read J.R.R.Tolkein's Lord of the Rings waaaaaaaayyyyy back when I was 11 years old! :)
If you get a chance, give BG a try. Its a neat game and I didn't feel disconnected from my character at all. I was my char :) The other people who join your group just help out, but your character is the main character throughout the game. And you don't have to have those other characters if you don't want to. You can kick any or all of them out.
You're right about the cheats too... I try not to use them the first time through, but some games ya just gotta do SOMETHING, lol.
Meenie :)

i'm sorry, i sometimes lose myself... i dont know what i was talking about, TACO!:p
Kafein on 2/12/2003 at 10:47
i've started playing baldurs gate 2 yesterday:) of course it is better than i feared... i really felt like the times we were playing pen and paper rpgs of d&d... the environments are nice and interesting... but i cant see the characters as they r too small!!!:erm: i need a magnifier like the ones in Brazil (the film)... i think there is no way to change the resolution right? 3x5 resolution would do! hahaha:laff:... yes i know i'm not funny... ehem...anyway...it'll be a good break for playing morrowind... maybe i should also try the nwn expansions:) the new one looks really amazing... by the way this is the morrowind forum right? i began to mix it up:o
yes! bloodrayne absolutely deserves cheating:mad:
