The lady didn't lie to you. You HAVE to levitate to get to the wizard. Once inside the tower, there is a shaft you levitate up. You don't have to go up there now though, the lady you are rescuing
is in the basement
. You definately either wanna train your Security Skill up to about 60, or get an enchanted item with Open 100 points, and come back though.. some of my favorite unique items in the game are in that tower. Some great stuff in locked chests in the
corpasarium below the tower, too.
Forsythe: It can be done with an enchantment too. An exquisite piece of jewlry, enchanted with Armor Desintigration 100 points, with a 400 charge soul. Cast cost is 11... when I make it anyway. That gives you 33 casts of it, for a total of 3300 points of Armor Desintigration. He may resist a few shots, but not many with a 100 point spell. Just unload on him, and then give him the old "one, two". If, by chance, the charges run out before his armor breaks, you can always run away. Wait for it to recharge, and come back, and finish him off.
Sure, you COULD just kill him (after you complete the main quest anyway), but that's the easy way ;) Besides, he's the gracious host of my favorite character in the game.

Nothing: True, I suppose that does work... dunno, I'd just feel guilty at abusing ol' Divayth like that:p What I find really puzzling is that I'd have no problem punching him into unconsciousness and then using a high-powered "Command Humanoid" on him, leading him around and having him kill his corprus patients :erm:

Well, he is a little arrogant... I'm sure he has that coming. A Telvanni wizard as old as he is has to have done some stuff that warrent a good thrashing. Just think of it as Karma catching up to him. I also subscribe to the belief that once I finish the main quest, I should be worshiped as unto a god.
I mean, I am the savior of an entire world... he just isn't suitably impressed.
I can't can't kill him though, he is one of the most interesting NPCs in the game.
That would have to be some command humanoid spell, wouldn't it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but he is one of the highest, if not the highest, level NPC in the game, isn't he? Cool idea though, I'm gonna go try it right now.:sly:

How interesting... he's lvl 65, and the next closest to him is the ever-elusive Wulf at lvl 50. Then there's a bunch of the developers' test characters, Mistress Therana at lvl 44, and then Mistress Dratha & Lord Aryon at lvl 31. There's lots of 30's, 29's, etc. Predictable that the highest levelled NPCs are all Telvanni though, I suppose.

Haven't you met Wulf yet? Then again he only appears near the end of the main quest.
And yeah, it's quite normal for fantasy games/books to have the old mages as the absolutely most powerful individuals, a successful mage is likely to become very powerful and continue to grow more powerful as he ages where a successful fighter will be more likely to loose some of his edge as he grows older.
