I have read the faq and followed it's instructions, I'm running theif 1 Gold and the game hangs but sound continues. I'm running windows xp service pack 3,
Geforce 8600 video card. My last attempt brought me this error message szAppName : THIEF.EXE szAppVer : 1.9.0.0 szModName : hungapp
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000
It has hung at several different places during the training mission, but some places are reoccurring. In other news the link for the theif 2 vid patch is broken as are most of the links for patches that i tried.

This is almost always caused by running the game with more than one processor. Did you try the FAQ's (
http://www.thief-thecircle.com/guides/hyperthreading/) instructions to disable hyperthreading?
Sorry about the broken links. TTLG suffered a server crash awhile back and it's taking a long time to restore all of the links and files.
