voodoo47, never mind. I found the files. There was a folder in my installed folder called "crfs" with. . .12 files. When I copied those files over to the RES folder. . .the game runs perfectly. You are a genius!! Thank you!! Thank you! I never would have thought of looking for that issue.
Just baffles me why not one but THREE installs of it would have done that.
I am so good to go now. *does a happy dance*

I thought DarkLoader's poorly-named "optimize" process did that.

Congrats on getting a new system, upgrading your Thief experience, and jumping back in!
Thanks, jtr7. Its good to be back. And now I'm up and running with Thief too, I'm totally happy with my new system. New monitor (my old one died half an hour after my new tower arrived. lol Talk about timing! Had to go into the city and buy a new one the next day), new system, new speakers (my friend sent me the money and ordered me to go buy some better speakers than the old set of 2 tinny ones that came with an old system. Playing Thief with semi-surround sound ought to be great. :D), I am totally happy here.
And so ready to pitch that ancient old laptop out the window and run a team of horses over it. Can I? Can I? Ok, fine. I'll be thankful it let me have *some* access over the last year. lol (Actually, its old, but there's not much wrong with it. It would still be fine for the purpose I bought it for and that was basically as a simple word-processor)
Now I just have to find some work and see if I can't make it all pay for itself somehow.

Maybe. . .but I have yet to put DarkLoader *on* this machine. And I wouldn't have run it unless the game would start up in the first place. (Unless I'm mixed up on what is what again. DarkLoader = fanmission launcher, yes?)
Speaking of which - I WAS using GarrettLoader to do FMs on my old computer. Since it worked for all 3 games.
I was told to use DarkLoader (assuming I'm thinking of the right program here) because GarrettLoader was getting flakey. But I am also aware that its OOOLD and does not support TG/TDS. Is there another option I can be looking into? Or should I just wing it with a combination of GarrettLoader and DarkLoader?

yeah, the new built in fmsel (open cam_mod.ini and enable it by removing ; from ;fm). see the NewDark documentation or search the forum to see how it works.

In a few weeks you can use FMSel for all 3 games as well.

What do you mean, snobel? I thought the patch was only for T1/T2?
snobel on 18/10/2012 at 11:32
That's true, but 'le Corbeau' was nice enough to include the source code for FMSel with the patch.
The loader situation for Thief 3 has been a bit of a mess - there are 3 loaders, but they all have issues, and none of them are being developed anymore. So I've been patching Thief 3 to have a simple but reliable built-in FM loader, it will be in the next version of my T3 patch, which should be ready in a few weeks.
FMSel is not actually needed, but when someone drops a perfectly good FM loader frontend on you, you might as well put it to use... So I've been adapting T3 some more to support its features, and adapting FMSel a little to support T3.

Excellent! I know people have had issues with GL but I didn't know about other loaders for T3.
