I've just installed the game on a new computer (xp, intel 6600x2 (@2.4ghz), 2gb RAM, ati radeon 2400 pro 256mb), and the game will not work... the opening runs, but when I try to load the first level, it crashes to desktop and it looks like Ion Launcher has hung (the disc busy cursor, and that ion launcher is taking up 1/2 of my system resources). any ideas?

thanks for the tips, but I'm getting a "runtime error! abnormal program termination" message when I run DX2.exe. I put openGLdrv.dll in the system folder, and installed the newest Direct X. I tried "C:\Program Files\Deus Ex - Invisible War\System\DX2.exe" -safe-mode and I'm getting the same message. I've never had this problem before on other computers...

You never even said you were talking about Invisible War. The original Deus Ex was assumed. That OpenGLDrv.dll is for the original game.
Anyway, you'd be better off posting this, with more detail, in (
