Didn't you ever hear of Duck and Cover?
I hear it doesn't work too well when the gunman decides to stick around.
I think he was invoking the rather notorious air-raid drills US (and British?) students were made to do ~40 years ago. You know, the one where you bend over, place your head between your legs, and kiss your ass good-bye.
There was a cartoon advertisement ... forget if it was Warner or Disney (or both?) It's gotta be on youtube by now. An apt display of what results when people who have no idea what they're doing try to be "helpful".

Gosh, SlyFoxx defending the Bush administration's shocking record, who'd have expected it?
Alchy is right - if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.
To some degree I agree but in my experience generally ppl in private admin positions get paid less with lesser working conditions than in public but are better employees.

I liked the Southpark volcano one. :D Although, "duck and cover" does have some utility in earthquakes.

The thing is that kids just don't take drills seriously, which kind of defeats the whole purpose of drills. The way I see it, kids got a valuable lesson in safety and should pay their teachers for providing them with such an exciting situation. Where else could they get such a cool and intense experience, for free none the less.
Next time someone shouts "this is not a drill", they won't take
that seriously either.

QFT. "If you'd told them the truth about Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny, they might have believed you about crack, STD's, and alcohol."
