Ha ha. That "calling all Teddys" is pretty amusing actually. The whole world should do it. I think those Sudanese extremists might just pop a vessel.

Fucks sake. It's not like she named a turd mohammed,
or someone's penis.
Nah, that was (

So far as this story is concerned, it's just the usual Islamic nonsense. Is anyone shocked at this sort of thing any more? File it away in the folder marked "Religious Bullshit" with the stories about Muslim store clerks in the UK refusing to handle booze, Muslim doctors refusing to operate on women or use alcohol-based handwash, Muslim prisoners suing the government for being given ham sandwiches... the list is endless.

Thank God {or whoever} the Muslim Council of Gt Britain were quick to disassociate itself from the whole thing.
I think even (
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7117430.stm) their comments left a lot to be desired:
Quote Posted by Muslim Council of Britain Secretary-General Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari
This is a disgraceful decision and defies common sense. There was clearly no intention on the part of the teacher to deliberately insult the Islamic faith
Now you can accuse me of reading between the lines, but the implication of his statement is that
had she intended to deliberately insult the Islamic faith, the sentence would be merited.
If the Muslim Council wants their stance to appear unequivocal, they should say that nobody should be punished anywhere for insulting or appearing to insult a man who has been dead for 14 centuries.

I disagree. If someone intentionally sets out to cause religious upset by insulting Mohammed that's a different issue entirely. Calling a teddy bear Mohammed is pretty banal even so. If she'd named a turd Mohammed I say she deserves this 15 day sentence.

Where is this going on?

In "The Sun".

My main problem is that no one is calling for the death of the young boy who named the bear.
He's the infidel.

...Muslim doctors refusing to operate on women...
I sorta understand the other ones, but I don't get this. Is this something to do with the disrobing of women? or just that women are not deserving of medical care?

Who knows for sure with these medieval nitwits. The details are in the Times story which is the first link at the end of my last post.
