So far as this story is concerned, it's just the usual Islamic nonsense. Is anyone shocked at this sort of thing any more? File it away in the folder marked "Religious Bullshit" with the stories about Muslim store clerks in the UK refusing to handle booze, Muslim doctors refusing to operate on women or use alcohol-based handwash, Muslim prisoners suing the government for being given ham sandwiches... the list is endless.

Now you can accuse me of reading between the lines, but the implication of his statement is that had she intended to deliberately insult the Islamic faith, the sentence would be merited.

If the Muslim Council wants their stance to appear unequivocal, they should say that nobody should be punished anywhere for insulting or appearing to insult a man who has been dead for 14 centuries.

I disagree. If someone intentionally sets out to cause religious upset by insulting Mohammed that's a different issue entirely. Calling a teddy bear Mohammed is pretty banal even so. If she'd named a turd Mohammed I say she deserves this 15 day sentence.
