Alright, so I don't like the way my hair puffs up after washing it and decided to try out some hair products on it. Problem is, I know nothing about hair products, so instead of reading wikipedia or various related sites, I figured I'd ask a random bunch of shady strangers.
My hair is blond, very fine and soft. While nice to the touch, it puffs a little bit giving me that extra-gay edge. I actually like my hair best one day after I wash it as then it oils up a little bit and becomes a bit heavier and thicker, more malleable too. What should I go for? Hair gel? Wax? Clay? what brands are good?
(fake edit: btw I live in the US so Brit-only brands need not apply ;))

I use pomade. Gives my hair weight and control but doesn't glue it down

We have the same hair it seems.
Use a bit of wax, rub it between your fingers so it gets warm and evenly distributed. Then apply strand by strand. Make sure to get some on the strands' ends or it looks odd.
You could also shower in the evening and go with that extra authentic "out-of-bed" style the next day.
A good haircut can also help prevent your hair puffing up.

Grow it out. Eventually it'll be held down by its own weight. Alternatively: Only shampoo twice a week. (Not recommended if your hair tends toward smelly.)

Shave it bald and work on your scowl.:grr:

I grew my hair down to my ass again. Problem solved, zero $$ spent.

Don't use gel. You'll look like a wanker.
But yeah a good haircut from a decent hairdresser would be the best bet, someone who can actually see your hair and actually works with hair would be able to give you the best advice on product. Ask a girl with a good haircut where to go.

Down 'ere in deepest darkest Cornwall, the latest trend is goose fat! Personally I prefer the traditional dog drool, easy to get hold of and it sets purty quick. There do be rumors of a new fangled jollop tho', seems all the young trendies are scraping the caulking from the wrecking gigs and mixing it with mackerel squeezings.. Once applied it be said 'twill last fer the season. T' my mind tho' it do smack of extra-gay edge.....
