Speaking of John's P. Textures...
I've just bought TDS on gog and have some problems, I thought I would ask you as I'm out of solutions:
The latest texture collection, Collective Texture Pack ver. 1.0.3, doesn't seem to work as it uses the ibt patcher. The files install with no problem but during the installation I get the following problem:
Run-time error ‘76': Path not found
It's from the ibt patcher. Basically, due to this, the new textures do not show up in the game.
In the readme John states that in order to make it work I should just check the following string in the windows registry: HKLM "SOFTWARE\Ion Storm\Thief - Deadly Shadows" "ION_ROOT"
... and check if there are any "\" out of place.
This is the problem: I cannot find that string!
I'm running it on Windows 7 64bit and the last time I've run the game I used a Windows XP.... :P
Did anybody else have this problem?
And sorry if it derails the topic to much. I've played TDS back in 2004/2005 so I'm curious to see how the game aged compared to the predecessors (TG and T2 aged well enough I might say, thanks to graphical mods etc, but the gameplay is still good). I've always liked TDS more than T2, not because of the gameplay but because I didn't like T2 viktorian setting and story. Not that TDS had a better story but at least it retained that gritty medieval setting of the first game that got lost among the rich colours of T2.

On 64bit systems the registry key has a slightly different location:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\
Wow6432Node\Ion Storm\Thief - Deadly Shadows]
This is normal. All 32 bit applications are registered in that branch in order to identify them properly as 32 bit software on a 64 bit system.

So there is no way to make it work then... Since the path is clearly different :(

you could just create the right path and copy the registry files over
that "should" work

I see no reason why it would not work. I have EP installed as well on 64 bit. Works like a charme.
It should be transparent to the installer whether the true registry key is the 32 or 64 bit version, so simply try and see.
But in case of issues please open a new thread on the respective support forum, since we are getting totally OFF-TOPIC here. ;)
... and post whatever you find in the registry

In the registry I have exactly this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Ion Storm\Thief - Deadly Shadows]
... and it's not working.
Did you have to make some specific steps in order to make it work? I just installed the game from gog and then applied the collective pack 1.03. The results is that the ibt patcher gives the aformentioned error and the new graphics do not show up in the game. Could it be the GOG version? Do you use the GOG version?
I posted this problem on their forum but I didn't get any help so far, and frankly, I cannot immagine a better place than TTLG for any problem with a Thief game.
