Hi, I bought Thief: Deadly Shadows on Steam a while ago and after taking out a usb controller (as stated on Eidos' help site i think it can cause problems) everything worked fine.
Now I dont know what I have changed prior tot his happening but at random times during gameplay, the game will just completely freeze, and it freezes my pc aswell. I cannot alt-tab out of it or even ctrl+alt+del out of it. I have to to a hard restart of my pc.
It usually occurs soonish after i start playing the game, nothing i have noticed causes it ingame, and i have all up-to-date drivers and everything for my computer.
My system is:
Windows Vistaâ„¢ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs)
4Gb RAM
2x Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I wonder if the problem is Windows Vista?

I would also suggest checking your graphic drivers. There should be section in FAQ/technical about this. But, as Fian said, most probably the problems are caused by Vista. If I were you, I'd trash that system right away, if you plan to play games on your PC, that is. :ebil:

Maybe try one of the compatibility mode settings?

It is only this game I have had trouble with. That and The Sims 2 wont load due to a "failed to enumerate any directx 9 compatible graphics adapters" which you may know about.
I did guess it is vista being a bitch though, although the last couple of times i have played T:DS it has run perfectly =/.
Thanks for the replies anyways.
