Is there a way to open the door to the Scrapper's forge?
It is upstairs from the inn. You have to approach the hidden door from above. You go through vent above an armoire, through a sword assembly area, and past the forges. Then there is a switch on the wall to open the bookcase entrance.

I just finished the mission on Expert, ghosting, with 2599/3056 loot. My stats time was over 12 hours! I have no idea how some players could accomplish this in 2.5 hours without prior knowledge or perhaps playing on Normal, which violates the ghosting rules. Anyway, chalk it up to my being slow, meticulous, waiting for good timing, requiring a lot of experimenting, and being a slow learner. I had to find my route by trial and error, repetitively, on multiple days, visiting some places 6 times or so, before I started to get the hang of the map.
I thought that this was generally a superb layout, with good atmosphere, with really good exploring opportunities. The first time through it was great. The 6th time, not so much. The main problem for me was the tedious hunting for core shards. I think that the screenshot method is bogus and not much help unless you have a photographic memory not only of the places but the routes to get there.
Things I would suggest improving in a revised version, if any, are:
1. A much better and more detailed map with street names and building locations identified. Some way to address the vertical element?
2. Make necessary readables portable and perhaps easier to find. The well-hidden book by Tudor's bed is an example.
3. Make it easier to access some really hard spots. I spent a huge amount of time trying to get onto the tall castellated tower and failed. I never found a speed potion, and it should not be necessary. The chimney location of the air shard was too difficult unless you know how to stack crates.
4. Figure out ways to reduce the tedium of shard hunting. Eliminate surprise relocations? Provide clues?
5. Provide a much slower and more informative cut-scene showing the shard locations. It is hard enough getting to those places even with good knowledge.
6. Label the shards in inventory, fire, water, earth, and air, so you know which ones you have found.
Regardless of my complaints, I had a great time playing this. Thank you very much! :D

I'm pretty much with Peter on this one and could add a few things. Great game world, dubious game-play due to poor dissemination of vital clues. I humbly suggest giving serious consideration to make a version 2.0. This mission has the potential to be one of the best ever. As is, it's just good. It wouldn't take much effort to make it worthy of a gold hammer.
Obviously it's too late to make changes in regards to the contest but I really think in the long run it would be well worth it.

so i have read the whole thread but i can't find the answer to the problem i'm having.
I have 3 shards (scrappers/fireplace/
"bathtub" in tudor's) and i'm chasing the last one,the one which floats over the lamp and then i found it again on the top on the tower with the twisting stairs and then when i try to grab it AGAIN garrett says "you've got to be kidding me" sooooo where did it go this time?
On Normal Difficulty.......
If it's the piece I think you still require it's actually not that far from your starting position.
Hint:
Search around the dead end alley where the guy looking after the generator machines has gone home for the night.
Outright spoiler
It's floating above the chimney! This needs some careful acrobatics. Personally, I edged around the chimney and over the flat roof area.
i cannot progress, maybe cuz of a bug.
i put the 4 core shards on a machine that seems to combine them into a whole core. but now what? i feel like i should take the core and put it back in the original machine in tudor's factory, but i cannot grab or frob the "fixed" core. when i try to frob it, the machine's spider leg-like things move a little but i still cannot grab the core.
am i being stupid n missing something really obvious (prolly)?

I did exactly the same and wondered why nothing was working -
after dropping the shards have you then pressed the button?

You need to start the machine when all 4 parts are in it :)
lol i knew i prolly missed something obvious.
the button?
i guess not. :) brb
yep, that was it. i totally did not see the little button on the side. cuz the core looked "fixed" already i did not think i needed to look for a button.
thank you, duffer!
