Haplo: It is a "to be continued..." kind of ending.

Fair enough, but I was hoping for a
closure. A soundbite or an in-between objective or something. I was confused at the end, thinking should I just abandon my task that I've worked on so much (especially since I've kept carrying on after a couple of setbacks)? Or should I try to find the killer? Or should I try to contact my client for further information? Just leaving the mission like that felt a bit abrupt.

This mission left me with a double impression: while it has complex layout and sometimes it's even puzzling in a good way, I felt it also being somewhat linear (and like adventure/quest game) in some places (in the beginning, for example): in order to play further you should understand the logic of how to do things and in what order. Sometimes it's challenging, sometimes frustrating. I understand that it was planned, but polarized reactions are inevitable in such case. That bug with arrows and inventory that occured to me sometimes, also was a bit annoying especially in the "force" variant of escorting Bernalt to his final destination. Luckily, it rarely happened. I actually even like the abrupt cliffhanger ending: it is enigmatic and fit well to the general mystical atmosphere of entire thing. I hope only that continuation would follow and not after 10 years).

Like many others, I am finding this mission to be both impressive and frustrating. I am in the Mortesaigues mansion (I think) -- the place were Bernalt leads me in the escort. I need some help with a few things. I also have some comments.
Frequent reloads make the metalp files in SFX folder grating to me. I reduced their levels by 6-8 db, so it is tolerable.
I generally found the instructions and the map to be nearly useless both for navigation and following the story, so I followed my nose. It seems to be working out, but evidently I have a lot yet to do.
I followed That Fucker Bernalt many times (30?) before I found out what was going on, namely that he goes into the portcullis sometimes but the objective does not ever check off. I would have suggested restructuring the objective so the player gets some satisfaction from delivering him.
I jumped into the water after the chase to avoid being killed by the fire-arrow guard. The problem with that is that neither of the ladders work properly. They are hard to grab, and one usually cannot get off at the top. I got lucky once, but it was frustrating.
A note mentions a side window into the mansion, but I had to do a big aerial jumping route. Is there a side window, or is that the one you find on the second floor after all the jumping?
I had a similar problem of failing to hook a mantle at the entrance to the condemned building. I eventually got stuck on the end of the beam, where I turned and mantled onto it. That was a fluke.
I went back to explore for a way into Mortesaigue's. I could not sneak past the fire arrow guard in many tries. He was hyper-alert, and he stayed that way. He always came running regardless of lighting and positioning. My only solution was to blow him up with a mine. Is there a better way?
This is where I am truly stopped, I believe. Inside the mansion, I cannot solve the statuary puzzle, which I am hoping will give me a key for the nearby lock. I am pretty sure I know where it is, in the statuary room. I see a potentially secret door with a small padlock above the beams, but I cannot find a way to switch the secret. I have probed every statue extensively 4 times.
The phrase "ahead in the garden" in Pud's Tip was too obscure for me. I had to read comments here. I still have no idea where to use the mysterious key. Clue?
Thanks, and Happy New Year!

PS
I got into the library without solving the statuary puzzle. Tricky! Anyway, now I am wondering if there is a statuary puzzle or if the statue bit in the readable and the door over the beams are red herrings.

smithpd: They are red herrings. Your objective lies in the small room above the library.

Thanks, Melan. I got that objective and others on Expert, so now I am cleaning up and trying to find big areas I have not seen yet.

It's the
mysterious key, you find it by solving pud's riddle
I finished all objectives and even managed to find the "fish secret".
But what do i do with that Skull i found? and whats with the statue you read in the book inside grandmauden?
I guess they open the shaft above the beams and the bookshelf (they both have a lock on it) so you can rach bernalt before he gets murdert?Edit: ok, i found out how to use the skull.
I did't find the text panel behind all that plants, witch gives a hint. after that if noticed the "lock" beside that door...
